Olive oil can be dangerous...

Although it MAY have been a conspiracy. :D

I went to open the cupboard last night, and got nailed by the bottle of olive oil when it fell on the top of my foot. The lid popped off, spraying me AND the floor with a nice film of oil.

After my own special version of the triple lutz, (hobbling in pain on oily linoleum is tricky at best!) I came to rest, vowing revenge.

In fairness...I think it was pushed by an evil-looking bag of brown sugar...

I had the same type of experience with Mrs. ButterWorths syrup. She fell right out and landed squarely on my big toe. Yet another good side effect of Adkins, this menace no longer exists in my cabinets.

That's why I figure it almost HAD to be pushed... sugar doesn't give up without a fight!

Evil Pantry Gremlins

I am lucky enough to live alone, and have banished all the evil-doers from my pantry. I dumped the white rice, flour, sugar, etc. into the trash to feed the critters in the landfill.

Now the only danger I have is empty tupperware containers falling out.

Hahaha - I thought it was only my high carb food that was revolting (in more ways than one!) I opened the cupboard the other day and out lept a tub of chocolate sauce, followed by some chocolate chips and pancake mix - I think the food must have clubbed together to form a conspiricy - I could have sworn I could hear a faint cry of "eat meeeeeeee" as they fell out!!

I'm expecting a full-scale assault at some point. Having determined the olive oil incident to be a murder, I realized that it must be the desperation of the carbs being phased out. Healthy foods have staged a sneaky takeover of the entire kitchen... even the baking section. Whole wheat flour, whole grain cereals, sugarfree chocolate syrup... gradually, so as not to arouse the suspicion of the 13-yr-old. He can ferret out changes in the cookies pretty well, but I'm up to about 3/4 "healthy" ingredients, sneaking in whole grains, sneaking out the sugar... :D

Today I made stir-fry with pork and veggies, but "forgot" to make rice. He lived. He even ate double the veggies he usually would.

No wonder the remaining carby stuff feels threatened....

Maybe it was my big bag of white sugar that stole my bottle of olive oil. It went missing 2 days ago. I have looked in the freezer, fridge, cupboards but cannot find it anywhere. Luckily I have 4 liters of it in a big container, but it is a bit messy using the big one. I will go and question the sugar to see if he was the culprit.
Thanks for the heads up, I thought I was losing my mind.

I am a cake decorator by hobby. Black frosting turns people's teeth blue-so I tend to keep cans of dark chocolate frosting to use instead. I also can't resist a 69 cent cake mix sale. Because I haven't been making as many-the supplies are building up and lately the frosting has been jumping out at me everytime I open the cupboard. I could have sworn they were firmly on the shelf...I have the same thing happening in my spice cupboard with the sugar jello and pudding mixes. I have a bunch of those along with the sf varieties. The sf ones stay on the shelf and the sugar ones jump at me. I had never thought of a conspiracy before, it was just annoying. But now that I think about it......

Yes, Olive Oil is indeed dangerous! I've been spattered in the eye too many times to count. I asked the Olive Oil what I did to deserve such attrocities, and all I got was the silent treatment:rolleyes:.

Keep Olive Oil on the lower shelves in the kitchen. Mine is below knee level. Nothing heavy in the upper cabinets. I have learned my lesson.
