Hi there!

Hi Mel!
I'm in Winnipeg too! You can find some Splenda sweetened drinks at Costco... I go to the one in St James, and a friend of mine said that she couldn't find them on Regent, so I'm not sure if they have them or not.
They're called "Sparkling Ice" and are made by Talking Rain. The pack has four flavours, Black Raspberry, Harvest Peach, Pink Grapefruit and Orange Mango. They are sparkling water beverage, so they are like fruity pop, not like fruitopia or something.
Other than that, I usually keep a pitcher of homemade iced tea, made with decaf tea or herbal tea and sweetened with Splenda.
I'm heading down to Minneapolis in January, planning to try to find some diet rite and all sorts of other lc treats when I'm there....
Feel free to pop by my journal, us Peggers need to stick together!

Hey finally a pegger.......Lol ! Yeah I went to Costcos today cuz I read on the forum about that Talking Rain.........but I went to the Regent 1 and couldnt find any..........so I thought maybe we didnt have it in Winnipeg yet. Thankyou so much for the info. Im quite new here so not really sure how this journal thing works but Ill try it out. Ttyl

They definitely have them at the St J location... they aren't with the pop, they are with the gatorade and juice.
Costco also has pork puffs and they have the best price on atkins bars that I've found... $2 each when you buy a case. Superstore has the same price, but rarely has even one case available to buy.
Good luck to you!
ps. to go to anyone elses' journal, just click on the icon at the bottom of their message... if you go to the journal and bootcamps thread on the home page, there's a sticky which will explain to you how to start your own journal there... I find mine to be very helpful with this wol. Don't be afraid to ask questions, because there are lots of very helpful and informative people here....

Talk to you soon!

I am in Winnipeg too. I wish we had some pop sweetened with Splenda. I might try Costco too for the flavored water. I was at Vita Health at Dakota today and found LC tortillas in the freezer. They had more LC stuff too but I didn't want to get too much because of the price.

I just tried those talkin rain drinks and they are delicious. I also bought some low carb tortilla chips from GNC the nacho flavor and they are actually tasty. Helps to crunch up a couple in ur taco salad. Im going to have some with a spinach dip this weekend. Also got these lil steak bites from Costcos and im so hooked on them.

reneeg1 Thu, Dec-11-03 22:43

what section do you get the steak bites in?

Jade74 Fri, Dec-12-03 08:24

Ok grrrrrrrrrrrrr how do i get a journal going?

reneeg1 Sun, Dec-14-03 22:33

I just went to the journal section and just start it like you are posting a new thread. All I did was just tell my story about who I am, etc. You can read a few to get ideas.

Hey Guys!!!

I am also from Winnipeg and just wanted to say Hi to everyone.

I have been buying most of my stuff from "European Meats". It is located on the corner of Springfield and Gateway in North kildonan. The prices there are amazing and the quality is very high. They also have many different low carb snack type foods. They have something called tepertu (I think) and it is awsome. I have been buying steaks, roasts, chicken, and everything else there. They also do not use fillers in their kubasa and pepperoni. Honestly, I don't work there but it is definately a great place.

Superstore has Atkins bars cheap (less than $1.50 per bar if you buy more than 6).

Just a couple of heads up here and nice to know that someone else in these forums are freezing their buts off today.

reneeg1 Tue, Jan-06-04 15:34

What is terpertu?

CK_Duper Tue, Jan-06-04 16:02

I am not sure if that is how it is spelt but it is great. It is one of those things that you have to be on low carb to enjoy because if you were not you would feel horribly guilty for eating it. It is basically pork (sort of like bacon ends) cooked to crispy and a little salty. It is hit or miss. I think you either love it or hate it :) . They are great when watching TV by themselves or sometimes I put them in the mic for a bit as well.

Hello Winnipeg!
I am new to this forum and am glad I found some fellow Winnipeggers! I is hard finding low carb stuff in our city!

Da Vinci syrups you can find at Espresso Junction at the Forks. They have a few in stock but will order anything you want and it will arrive in 2 days.
What do the low carb tortillas taste like?

slapnuts Mon, Feb-02-04 22:49

Thanks for the heads up on the costco drinks.

I have scoured the city looking for low carb/splenda sweetened drinks. The only one I'd found is sugar free Jones Soda. Their Black Cherry pop is great.

Stupid Ontario people get to buy diet crush drinks that have splenda. I wish they would market that stuff here.

SF Jones is 1.50 a bottle at 7-11.

LC tortillas are just like regular ones. I make wraps, quesadillas, put egg salad in there. I also tried some LC chips which were good.

Hello, I too live here in the peg and love it.

After reading this I now know where to get lc stuff. I only saw some at Superstore but I just couldn't get myself to pay a high price for Atkins bagels. That is all I could find there(well the bars were there).
Do you know where those drinks are other than costo?? I don't have a membership there.

reneeg1 Mon, Mar-01-04 16:58

I did pay $6 for the Atkins bagels at Superstore, but I am really enjoying them much more than bread. They are filling too, a half would do for breakfast.
