If anyone is interested in flavored syrups or extracts, I ordered some a few months ago that are really good. They are by Nature's Flavors (www.naturesflavors.com) which I think is out of California. I ordered the snow cone syrups, the regular syrups and the flavor extracts. The marashino cherry and the raspberry ones were the best. The extracts are good too but i need more ideas on what to do with them. Right now I use them for cheesecakes and mousse flavorings. Any ideas? I have heard that you can buy plain liquid splenda there too which has zero carbs. Just a warning though--shipping seemed to take forever. They had alot on back order.

jennifer, do you live in canada? what were the shipping charges and duty like. my husband ordered golf clubs from the states. the clubs were almost $300. cdn, which he charged to visa. when they arrived we had to pay another $147.00 c.o.d! that was for duty, brokerage fees and gst. what a rip-off! i wanted him to refuse the clubs and get our money back from visa, but he's sure these clubs will improve his swing. lol!

Hi,
No, I now live in Bradenton, Florida. I moved here from the Buffalo/ Niagara Falls, NY area in September. I used to go over to Canada weekly to stock up on low carb goodies. I miss that since we don't have those same goodies here. As for the syrups, I can't remember what the shipping was. They ended up not charging us for it since the order was late. It was worth it though.

jennifer, what kind of lowcarb goodies did you buy in canada. i always feel like we're missing out on all the lowcarb goodies available in the states. i'd love to know what you bought up here and in what stores. i'm dying to try those syrups. they're a very good price. i compared them to the davinci syrups. they have a terrific inventory too.

Debbie,
I used to buy sugar free goodies with sugar alcohols and splenda in them. That kinds of sweetener has only been used here very recently. I particularly love Woodies candy bars which I got at Shoppers Drug Mart and a sugar free ice cream that I used to buy at another store whose name I can't remember (had a big orange sign). The ice cream came in many flavors but the Swiss Chocolate was the best. I can't remember the name. I also bought Splenda flavored orange Crush, another kind of chocolate bar (Shoppers Drug Mart again) and the Kerrs hard candies. I wish I could remember the names of the stores and companies. Try the Woodies if you can find them. The orange ones are the best. I miss those and am trying to get stores to carry them down here. Happy shopping!!

Nature's flavors

Does anyone know if Nature's flavors uses liquid splenda or pourable splenda in their sugar free flavored syrups. I purchased a couple of bottles when I saw they were flavored w/ splenda, but I didn't notice if they use the liquid splenda or the dry. Trying to save some carbs.

IslandGirl Mon, Jan-14-02 17:08

Manufacturers use a concentrate, the same concentrate that is used in liquid Splenda. No filler, like in the pourable or packet RETAIL Splenda is required, therefore no extra carbs from filler.

Now OTHER carbs might be in the product (like from glycerin or maltitol, for example), though. One must read the official Ingredients List, as you would for any product.

Sucralose on the Ingredients List is the concentrate only, no filler.

gecolon Wed, Jan-16-02 17:41

Thank you Island girl. Water, Sucralose ( Splenda ) Stabilizer, Sodium Benzonate , Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavors and Colors.

IslandGirl Wed, Jan-16-02 19:34

I don't see any hidden carb-type ingredients there... except it's unknown what the stabilizer is made of. COULD be glycerine. I emailed Nature's Flavors a while back asking about the stabilizer but haven't got an answer.

You might want to give it a try, too, if you use a lot of the stuff....

JustAGirl Thu, Jan-17-02 19:26

Judi,
would you mind posting the response when you get it?

IslandGirl Thu, Jan-17-02 20:10

Of course, that was the whole point... but it hasn't shown up yet so I don't really expect one.

The more the merrier, though, so if more people go to the Nature's Flavors webpage and click on the email address of that fellow who says he's the contact there, and actually ask the question ("just what IS that stabilizer made of, please?"), the more likely he'll get annoyed enough to answer one of us.

Luck to us all!

jennifer,
have you ever tried davinci syrups? just wondering about differences in thickness.

NaturesFlavors.com SF (Splenda) Syrups

Has anyone tried the sf syrups from Natures Flavors? Or the extracts (especially the chocolate!)? Would love to know how they compare to DaVinci's cause their certainly cheaper. Thanks!

Karla Tue, May-07-02 20:49

We have been buying the Davinci syrups for awhile and we like them a lot. Then I tried the chocolate and canteloupe Nature's Flavors sf syrups because they were cheaper; IMO they were absolutely and positively horrible, especially the chocolate.

judi,
did you ever hear back from them?
~justagirl

IslandGirl Tue, Jul-30-02 16:37

Nope.

But I DO know that stabilizers are usually just vegetable gums... soluble fiber for the most part, so no worries about the STABILIZER.

Judi B. Wed, Jul-31-02 13:04

Stick to DaVinci's!!!!

I am soooo dissapointed with Nature's Flavors. Their customer service is much to be desired. Don't hold your breath for them to get back to you, it will never happen, PLUS... when I finally got my syrups, just about every bottle had a "scum" either floating or on the bottom of the bottle. No quality control whatsoever!!!
Divinci's is the best!
Judi B.

Karla Thu, Aug-01-02 14:11

Judi,

I didn't find any scum in the bottles of Nature's Flavors I tried, but they were just about the worst tasting things I've ever had. I tried the chocolate and the canteloupe, and both were truly horrible. That's IMHO, of course.

The Davinci syrups taste so much better and they keep making more and more of their regular flavors sugar free.

Karla,
I agree, I got a bottle of Mandarin Orange, OMG I don't know what they were going for but it WASN'T Mandarin Orange. It tasted putrid :Puke: I'm sticking with DaVinci's!!! They are great at their customer service too!!!

Sugar Free Syrup Base

Hi,
If anyone has used these products, I would appreciate answers to my questions below.
http://www.naturesflavors.com/defau..._71&pitem_id=14

1/ Are they the good kind or the harmful kind?
2/ Are they really good for cooking (sauces, cakes, ice creams, etc.)?
3/ I am currently using Spenda and want to cut back on my carbs, are these products the way to go?
Thanks.
Simon.

Da Vinci?

Gosh, I ordered Da Vinci Peach, Pancake and Vanilla.

Peach didn't taste anything like peach at all and was a waste of money as far as I was concerned. Same with the Pancake. YUK!

Vanilla was "okay" but not very much vanilla flavor and not as sweet as I was expecting.

Never tried Nature's Flavors, but have some on order. I'll let you know what my experience is like. SO FAR, haven't received it. It has been over a week. So far, I'm frustrated that it has taken so long.

They are now selling a flavor-free "syrup base" (aka liquid splenda, sortof) and I have orderd some of that as well as the cherry and banana.

I let you know how they taste when I get them.

Love My Splenda Syrup

yesterday i received my splenda syrup from natures flavors, its a sweet liquid made from splenda and has no carbs, it is wonderful in my tea this morning, i took a leep of faith and bought the 1gallon size for 29.00 but over a 25$ order no shipping charge, im glad i got it, its great,

hippygal Tue, Jul-22-03 13:06

So can you use it for anything? Is it liquid splenda?

Skamito Wed, Jul-23-03 06:26

Oh my gosh, it looks like Nature's Flavors sells Flavorless Splenda syrup bases. The aim is to make your own syrup with it, but seems like it would stand up to baking and flavorless mixing quite well.

They have two products: Splenda Acidic Base and Splenda Sweet Base. Sell a quart for $8.49 and a gallon for $29.99.

What's the Difference Between the Acidic Base and the Sweet Base?
The Acidic Base works best for flavors that you would consider tangy, such as fruit flavors, and the Sweet Base works best for sweet flavors, such as chocolate.

So These Don't Have Any Flavor?
Actually, they do have flavor. The bases have a light blend of vanilla flavoring that will mix well with nearly any other flavor!

What if My Flavor Isn't Really Sweet or Tangy?
In most cases, the Sweet Base will work for flavors that fall outside those two categories.

Can I Mix Flavors?
Absolutely yes! Some of the best syrups have mixed flavors in them (a popular mix is Strawberry and Banana)!

Can I Cook With These Bases?
Yes! All of our sugar-free syrups, including the bases, are heat-stable and can be used in cooking and baking.

Recipe for Custom Syrup:
16 oz. of Neutral Syrup Base
1-4 drops of Flavor Concentrate(s)
Food Coloring (optional)

Start by mixing one drop of chosen flavor concentrate(s) into the syrup base. Add additional drops to desired taste. Repeat process with food coloring if desired.

Enjoy the sugar-free, calorie-free, and carbohydrate-free taste of this Splenda-sweetened syrup on just about anything you can think of! Use it to make great, flavored snow cones, drinks, foods, and more!

Nature's Flavors syrups

I've recently started using Davinci Syrups in baking, cooking and making protein shakes, and absolutely love the caramel syrup in particular. I use a lot of it though, so paying 7.99 at the local store for the bigger bottles is going to get a bit expensive, as would ordering from Davinci's website.

I've found Nature's Flavors website, and as they're also made with splenda, I was considering trying them out (they sell gallon bottles for a decent price, and have free shipping for orders over $25), but was wondering if there were any opionions on them as far as taste and sweetness goes, compared to davinci syrups? Also, in addition to caramel, can anyone recommend flavors? (Not a huge fan of fruit based ones though)

Any info/opinions would be great

Splenda Syrup Base - link

Found this item...was wondering if anyone has tried it? Wouldn't it be the same as DaVinci's SF Vanilla syrup? Is it more concentrated than DaVinci's retail syrups, as it is a "base"???

http://www.naturesflavors.com/produ...roducts_id=2851

I was TRYING to luck-out and find SOMEONE who MIGHT sell Liquid Splenda...

I even went to the Splena Business-to-Business site...I'm thinking that, as I manage a hotel, might they sell liquid splenda to me? What if my hotel has a restaurant? What if my hotel's restaurant offers SF/lc desserts? What if you had a business that made sugar-free confections. There are a lot of "home-based" confectioners that are legitimate businesses and work out of their kitchens (local business regs permitting). What if Splenda company requires some proof that you are a business?

Business licences usually don't cost much...

It's a thought...I intend to check into it (if it works, wonder what would be the minimum quantity you could order? Probably a 50 gallon drum, knowing my luck!)

I got some of the natures flavors syrup base. It is not concentrated. It measures cup for cup like sugar and it leaves a film in your mouth. I used it for sweet ice tea.

I will PM you some info on liquid splenda :)
