Let's get to it - all welcome

My goals are set out below.... what are yours??????

Wendye Fri, Dec-27-02 01:25

My name is Wendye and
I am a carboholic!

1. My Plan:
Low Carb (under 25g per day);
Low fat (less than 50);
Low Sodium (under 1g per day);
dividing food into 6 small meals
include at least 2 cups of fruit/vegetables
10 glasses of water per day
taking my vitamins and supplements and
daily swimming 30 mins -- increase to 60 mins

2. My Goal: to lose 100lb (not all this month!)
I'd like to lose at least a stone (14lb) this month
- am hoping to lose more as I have recently put on some!
And it should drop off in week 1 - me hopes!!!

3. I'll post menus and fitday them when I can (I am abeing realistic)

4. I WANT any help y'all can give me

5. I will measure this bod - I just have to find a tape measure big enough.

Starting 27.12.02 - I plan to stick to this for a month - then will review results - by pound and centimetre

So here we go!!! I am bigger than ever and HAVE to do this!!!

Who wants to join in???

P.S. Jude - I'll be needing your help to do this!!! :)

Carol CA Fri, Dec-27-02 02:17

Wendye! I've seen your posts.. and I've wondered what LC, LF, LS, and x6SM stood for. NOW I know! Well... if you can follow that plan, you'll be a twig in no time! I'm going to follow your FitDay menus... and see how your LF menus look. I'd love to see quicker progress myself... but geeez... I'm not so sure I can be THAT dedicated!

I've thought for a long time that maybe it's time for me to give up all dairy and artificial sweeteners. What's your thought on this? I'm NOT saying this will happen... just thought that maybe I "should". Can you tell how whimpy I am???

Well... I can see that you're NOT whimpy. You've got a plan...and that's terrific. Can't wait to see how you do!
Happy New Year, girl!

vivi621 Fri, Dec-27-02 03:12

I'm with ya toooo...

I am very happy to see you started your resolution early, I am cheering for you :cheer:

me.. and all the other carboholics here.

I too am a carboholic and have been struggling the last two days..I am stepping in your wagon

You have a great list with all the affirmation you'll need to do it, I know you have it posted on the bathroom mirror and on the refrig.. :D

You can do it Wendye.. I am pulling for you!!!! Now to convience me tooooo. Getting a little depressed and I am glad to see you have such a positive attitude, I am going to try and draw from that.........

LORI JO Fri, Dec-27-02 06:58

Hey, Wendye! Little sis checking in. Glad you started this thread. We certainly need all the help and support we can get! And with a few hunks thrown in, what can be better?!

You've got an admirable list of goals, but I know you will stick to them and do well.

Mine are:

1. Low carbs - less than 20 grams
2. WATER, WATER, WATER
3. Supplements
4. DO NOT GO OFF ATKINS EVEN FOR ONE TASTE OF SOMETHING!
5. EXERCISE - walking 2-4 miles daily

WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

:rheart: Lori

Atrsy Fri, Dec-27-02 08:31

Thanks for starting this with such a positive outlook. I want to join you, but I'm very, very weak. So I must ease into this. I won't be setting such stringent goals--I must start one day at a time.

Not only am I a carboholic, I am a chocoholic and believe me, I think that chocolate has a direct line to the brain and the hips. It makes me feel so good, but it makes me look so bad.

I started yesterday and didn't do too badly until evening, when I got out the chocolate. By New Years, it will either be all gone or it will be tucked safely in the freezer in the cellar where I would have to fight the mice for it!

My one goal is to weigh less--I can't promise how much less--I only lost a total of 5 lbs this year and I really tried for about 7 months. But even 5 lbs a year is better than none. By the time I am 90 I can lose 150 lbs. LOL

"My Name is JUDE and I'm a CARB-O-HOLIC!"

Wendye Frendye, this is great! Just what we all need for our HAPPY NEW YEAR! I remember all the fun and weight losses we had last year with our JULY CRACKDOWN ... I never stop missing that thread!

I'm so glad to see all of you over here... this thread will be a great gathering spot for fun and support (I look forward to seeing who the latest Hunk is that "really does it" for each of you...LOL)

I know that I can follow all the rules (although I have, here, this year, been accused of #6  )...I'm just highly opinionated
...never made it to medical school...although all my teachers and schoolmates tried their bests to encourage me to go....I have been known to become over zealous with trying to share good information with my friends... and my close friends in NC seek me out when they have a problem with their health! I promise to refrain from offering any medical advice here :nono:, since my Wendye friend has clearly outlined the rules! I will indeed, though, discuss shagging and/or rooting, at length when asked...LMAO!

A special HELLO and welcome to Carol CA...I've seen you around the forum and always enjoy your posts and your great personality! Glad you're here!

Just wait 'til sug'a and gin get here...and on that note I've got to share the post that I thought was so funny, I found myself laughin' out loud for days...Here's the post that wins the "FUNNIEST FOR 2002" award

OK, now down to business! I have fallen, but with the help of this thread, I know that I can get up and climb into that "big ole' wagon" 'specially with all of you to "root" me on! I'm going to start now with getting back to exercising everyday and drinking 80 to 100 ozs. of water and taking all my vitamins. At the end of the day on January 1st 2003, I will go back to Atkins induction for 2 weeks and then decide if I'm going to change over to CAD for a try??? We'll see!

In the meanwhile...GOOD LUCK TO US ALL and HAPPY LOW CARBING...I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you over here! Thanks again, Wendye girl, for getting this thread together for us...:yay: :yay: :yay:

Time for an Aussie Hunk!!!

This is Hugh jackman - all round nice guy - actually goes to my church when in Oz. He was here fro Christmas - so I copped an eye-full of hunk!!
You may recognise him starring roles in Swordfish, Xmen or Kate and Leopold and I reckin he is a hunk!!

Anyone for golf?????

ERSmith45 Sat, Dec-28-02 08:41

Ok, Ok, I'm here.... those beautiful Hunks will do it everytime. Atkid being my favorite one of them all. ;)

I'm only half way into the wagon as of yet. I have stayed away from the breads with little effort, but slipped on some sugar yesterday.

My goals:

1. Eat less than 30 grams of carbs a day.

2. Work my way up to doing some type of exercise "everyday" by my birthday.

3. Remove sugars and (white flour) processed foods from my diet.

4. Drink a minimum of 100 oz's of water a day

Ok, that's it for me... Don't want to make my promises too tough. I've had enough failure for now. I'm giving my goals the "kiss".

Keep
It
Simple
Sister

Love you all and we can do this!!!!

My name is Carol and I'm a carbo/chocoholic!

This is double the trouble! I have been trying to slide into this thing. I've been off a little too long. Now when I eat the chocolate, I try to balance it with a little protein. LOL

I've started back on my suppliments--been off them for almost 3 weeks. So here is what I'm taking:
1 Centrum Silver, 3 calcium, 2 GLA, 3/4 tsp natural sea salt, HRT, and a thyroid pill.

I've also cooked my own cranberries and made a sugar free cranberry juice (ugh) and have that diluted in water with some SF orange Metamucil first thing in the morning. I figure I'll start at the top of the day and work my way down until New Years when I hope to be in full swing.

Wendye, I am impressed with your menu. You go girl!
That eye candy that you posted may be a little too sweet. I agree, he's a hunk, but what's with the towel? Oh, that's right--I'm an old lady and shouldn't be thinking that way.

Good luck to all

Carol

You go girl! I sure hope age doesn't take away my enjoyment of eye candy, cause that's the only candy I can have now days. :D Count me for the chocoholic catagory too.

DH has been policing me lately. So, I informed him that he has to start eating more healthy as well. No more Hot pockets for breakfast and toquitos for lunch. :nono: See who polices who....

grrrr...

Menu

Br. Eggs and ham (no, not green eggs :D )
CF coffee with heavy whipping cream
Lu. Ham and a salad, water
Di. Crab salad, water

LORI JO Sat, Dec-28-02 14:04

Carol - you old? NEVER!

Besides, the towel adds that air of mystery we love. Kind of like Atkid with his mask. (Hint, hint Kid!)

I'm starting slowly, gearing up for New Year's Day. Christmas chocolate - who invented that?! I just need to get rid of it, freezing it won't work in my house.

Everyone sounds like they are ready, willing and can't wait to start!

Lori

Carol CA Sat, Dec-28-02 15:01

Oh, Carol! We're NEVER too old for lust! Are you kidding me, girl!!! That's nature's way of letting us know we're still alive and healthy! Bring on the hunks!

As for my low-carb commitment --
1. I'll aim for 20 gr of carbs per day.
2. Eating more veggies.
3. Limiting dairy to 2 oz a day.
4. Limiting processed meats to zip, if possible.
5. Cutting waaaaaaay back on artificial sweeteners. Zero would be smart... but not so sure I can commit to that!
6. Exercising regularly... treadmill and starting a weight-lifting routine.
7. Drinking sufficient water.

I'll eat meat and veggies for dinner.
It'll surely make me much thinner.
I'll be lifting and hiking,
And much to my liking,
I'll be a loser... and, therefore, a WINNER!

Hey Carol CA, sounds like a plan to me...great seeing it in poem form...thanks for droppin' the "hunks" off over here too!

Just had to tell you, and all who read here, that I, being the night owl that I am, was sitting here at 2 am reading your journal...and "laugh, I thought I'd die"...tears were running down my face as I read about your beloved cat (and a good-lookin' fellow he is too!) But, as in need of some laughs as I was...I felt like a total idiot sitting here by myself, getting such enjoyment from your journal...It was certainly far more enjoyable than any movie I could have tuned into on the tube...lol Hope you get all your problems solved in the HAPPY NEW YEAR coming up...and I must say "gotta love that cat"...and you!

My my it's amazing what the odd hunk wil do for us isn't it!!

I knew it would flush Ela out -- and how does that Atkid always know when we are talking about him ????? It's always SOOOO nice to see him....isn't it????

Jude, Lori Jo and Carol CA glad to see y'all here too!! Just gotta flatter that Atkid so he keeps returning!!

Carol sounds like you are getting very orgainised - well done!! (not so much of the 'old' stuff thanks) Those supplements 'll keep you going!!!

Ela - I'll give your goals the KISS too!!! Let's end the trend of failure shall we and surge forward with success!! All of us.

Lori Jo - Christmas Chocolate hmmm!!! isn't it a shame that chocolate makes you feel so good (for about 10 seconds) then I get either the guilts or an awful taste in my mouth and then the carbeffect - tired lethargic etc. Little squares of devil food!!!!
Have a good New Year!

Carol CA - So glad to have you aboard - I can see youare going to fit in really well around here - your goals look great! just a bit worried about the 'sufficient water' goal - let me know how it goes and I love your little poem and of course hunks are always welcome eye candy!!. You go girl!!! I'll have to avisit your journal too and have a laugh.

and Jude - I'm rooting for you girl

Now me!!

Well I decided to weigh myself yesterday (haven't popped on those scales since well before Christmas -- and I got EEEEEE on my digital scales -- not a good sign - that is an error overweight message. So I guess I'll know I have lost when it acatually gives me a weight - sad very sad!!!

I didn't drink enough ater yesterday so my mini goal is to drink more today :)

Hmmmm  Anyway Food
A lamb chop for brekkie (cut off all the fat) 2 glasses of water

Now you chocoholics -- can't you get some sugar free chocolate for emergencies???? When I am in 'full swingn' I don't look twice at chocolate but in thefirst few fragile days/weeks if someone else is eatig it - I want some!!! or if an add comes onTV - I want some. I confess I had 1 yes only 1 small square of it last night.

Bye for now you losers!!!

j. mcadams Sat, Dec-28-02 17:48

I'M here, I'm here, wait for me......

Hi fellow Fallen and can't get up 'em. I will not be getting back to the basics until after we have our Christmas and I find out just what is in that ''little velvet box''. So I figure since we will be having the McAdams Christmas on Jan. 03 that it will probably be the 5 or 6th no later than the 6th. But I am so ready to get back to low carbing.

I am/have been getting ready. I have reread my Atkins book, I have read the success stories and I have been looking up new recipes to try.
I do know one thing for sure that I have to do this time and that is get in more veggies. The salad once a day is just not cutting it.
I have really slacked up on my water drinking. So back to drinking a gallon per day, will be spending lots of time in the bathroom, LOL LOL. I am also getting out a pair of slacks that my rear does not fit into anymore, I will measure myself and yes I will weigh myself, but I will not be ''nailed'' to that scale. Gonna take my supplements, going to get back to exercising three times per week.

So here is my plan and I just know this is going to be the year we see some real losers....joan

Carol CA Sat, Dec-28-02 18:06

What a Group!

Oh, Geeez... I KNEW someone would pick up on my sneaky terms like "sufficient" and "if possible". Thanks for keeping me honest, Wendye! :) Not specific enough, huh. Okay... I will commit to drinking a MINIMUM of 64 oz.. and I'll aim for 100 oz. GLUG GLUG SLOSH SLOSH FLUSH FLUSH! I don't mind water like I once did... but it's still a chore.

And Jude... You read my entire journal? You really did?! Wow! Lots of whining and bitching to wade through, huh? Glad you found the humor in it. The cat situation was so pathetic at the time... but sort of funny looking back on it. My diningroom looks like hell now. I'm thinkin' maybe Ophra's staff would take it on as a make-over challenge? It ain't gonna win no Better Homes & Gardens contests the way it is now... but hey... it doesn't stink anymore!

I started reading your journal last night... but didn't finish it. I'd just gotten started reading it this afternoon, and my power went out! Barring any more outages, I'll get through the rest of it before long. I'm enjoying your positive energy. Planning on tapping into yours to charge my own attitude battery!

I want to add MY thanks here, Wendye, for the nice welcome to the forum AND for starting this thread. I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favorite and most important hang-outs this coming year!

Oh! I see Joan has arrived! Let the party begin!!!

I wish we had spell check in the forum - I don't have time to chekck every post or I'd never get anywhere in here -

mind you this one is not as bad as the famous "Can a dick swim" typo in Bebe's journal earlier in the year!!!

Ah that's better!!

Definition of Jude: “An inexhaustible good natured soul and a most precious gifts of heaven, spreading yourself like oil over the troubled sea of thought, and keeping the mind and your friends smooth and equable in the roughest weather.”

Anyone spell checking today???????????

Confession: The fresh bread on the kitchen bench was calling me all day - beckoning the way chocolate does Carol - did I give in ???- not the first time - Oh no......not the second or third time - Oh no......... but about the tenth time....yep!!

I have now put it in the freezer (wher I should have put it this morning) I can't see it or smell it in there!! I only had 1 slice - felt very guilty but it did not become a binge so I can be thankful for small mercies. I didn't give in and say "I've blown it now might as well have the whole loaf!"

I find the first few days really hard to stay on that wagon. Pull me back up guys ......thanks. I am going to bed before I eat anything else. I think you'd better strap me in!!!

I did pay penance by having 4 extra drinks..... of WATER!!!! what else??) Better make that clear in case Atkid comes back!!

See you all tomorrow - I'll not be on early I am going to the movies.

Like my new costume. :daze: I wear it so people can't see I weigh almost 300lbs. :p Yes, I've dyed my hair since you last saw it, but this is only a glimps of the locks you'll be able to see once you reach goal. What was that goal poundage again?

MKGretchen Sun, Dec-29-02 10:40

question and my plan

Ok I am in need of some clarification here.

9. Have an understanding of shagging, rooting & thong-wearing

I know what thong-wearing is (I have about 6 pairs and am not afraid to wear them) but what is shagging and rooting???

1. My Plan:
Low Carb (under 30g per day);
Protein (minimum 75g per day)
dividing food into 6 small meals
80-96oz of water per day
taking my vitamins and supplements and
walk track at lake 3 times a week at 6am and gym 2-3 times a week

2. My Goal:
Lose 25lb by May 7th (my 9 year weddning anniversary)

3. I will track both food and fitness on fitday daily

4. I will take constructive advise from my list members and know that I am new at this and those that are more experienced will have more knowledge than I

5. I will take measurements monthly and weigh myself every Monday to track my progress
