Big favor please?

I'm on day two of Induction...never tried it before in my life...and I feel fat! I see where a lot of people notice a difference after the first day but I haven't...weight's the same and my clothes are just as tight. I'm still making my way around the Atkins book and reading as much as I can on here...still sooooo very much to learn! My head's spinning :spin: I even dreamed about this stuff last night!

Would someone please be an angel and check out my FitDay journal and tell me if I'm doing this right? :help: (Hope I can do this right!)

I've planned the rest of the day and entered it in FitDay...that's why there's so much at this time of the day. Seems to make it easier for me.

Thanks loads!

Looks good. Just watch out for the
Ranch salad dressings as they have
sugar in them. Be sure to read the
label. I used only a olive oil/balsamic
vinegar dressing when I was on
induction.

Best of luck to you on your
new Way of Eating (WOE).

Be blessed!

Hi Darlene!

Welcome to the forum!

There are a few things that you may need to change or at least check into.

1) The cheese! WAY to much for Induction. You are limited to 3-4 oz while on induction.

2) Check your sausages. How many carbs? Do they have sugar? Wheat?

3) How many carbs in the ranch dressing? Is there sugar?

3) The canned beans. Is there sugar?

Remember, induction is restricted to ONLY the foods on the list. And sugar is absolutely not allowed!

It is possible to find foods without sugar, but it can be a test sometimes.

Anyhow, this is a great way of eating and the benifits are many. You will lose weight and feel much better!

Give it a few more days :)
If you still have trouble, try reducing your cheese and ranch dressing intake a *little*.
If you sill have problems, try temporarily swearing off dairy.
Check back with your progress

Looks good to me, but fresh green beans are so much tastier!! Fresh green beans are about 4 net carbs (7.x - 3.x fiber). My Mom used to put a little bit of salt pork in the cooking water - gives great flavor to the beans!

And yes, check around for lower carb ranch dressings - I use a premade one too (Safeway Ranch with Bacon) which is .8 carbs per Tbsp.

Also when using Fitday, you might want to choose just plain chicken breasts and make a separate entry for the oil/butter you use in cooking.

Since the screen that is visible to outsiders doesn't show the fiber grams, what I do is use the Journal feature to record the total carbs for the day less the total fiber for the day.. something like this "26 - 8 = 18 ECC". But I haven't filled mine out for the last few days - to see, you'd have to skip back a few.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks!

You guys are the greatest! And so fast! Some great advice and I'll be checking it out.

Thanks again!

Any more wisdom out there?

Results after one day???? I don't think so, relax, follow the book, you'll be pleased.

I dropped 5 lbs overnight on my first day..

Talon Tue, Apr-29-03 17:21

I didn't drop till day 3 or 4. Takes a few days to get the carbs out of your system. Make sure byou keep your fiber up!

While some lucky people may notice dramatic results in the first 24 hours, this is pretty rare. Don't think that you are doing something wrong if you aren't losing pounds hand-over-fist right from the start.
Average weight loss during the 2 week induction period is about 10% of what you need to lose and then 5% each month after that.
Go easy on the cream (no more than 3 fluid ounces a day) and cheese (no more than 3-4 ounces a day).
Good for you on eating your veggies!

Pg. 374 DANDR:

"Avoid balsamic vinegar, which contains sugar."

She had two .25 cup servings. A quarter of a cup is 2 oz. That means she had a total of 4 oz. of cheese. That's okay for induction.

I was under the impression that in regard to cheese, "ounce" was meant in the sense of Weight, rather than Volume. Measuring ounces in cups is a liquid measurement, isn't it?

Hey Tut,

1/4 c. (4 tbs.) shredded cheese weighs approximately 2 ozs. Since this is not precise, I always weigh cheese on the scale. However, if someone doesn't have one, a good rule of thumb is 2 tbs.=1oz.

I think when some of us first looked at her FitDay, she had what she planned to eat - and there was more cheese at the end of the day plus the canned green beans that I mentioned. In view of our posts, it seems that Darlene changed her menu plan. Good for you, Darlene!

You're right!

You're right, Jean...I did change my mind about supper. All based on sound advice, I might add!

According to the scale this AM, I've lost two pounds. (This is day three.)

I also bought some sticks for testing for ketosis and tried one as soon as I got home. Just couldn't wait! It showed some color I interpret as being between negative and trace! Hope that is just some technical error on my part. I'll try it again before supper.

Thanks again to everyone!
