Janetly Moves!

Okay! I started today! August 4, 2004

20 Mins Richard Simmons Blast Off

I am out of shape. I'm all sweaty now. I'm going to keep doing this tape until I can get the treadmill out and start doing my 60 mins again. I think I might look for a weight lifting video or something that will guide me through lifting.

YAY me! :hyper:

Walk Away the Pounds - 2 Mile

I have a guilty confession to make :D
I like to come here and brag about what exercise I've done.
Its not to come here and make sure I'm keeping up with it, or to keep myself accountable for anything... its deffinately a wheeee look what I did!

WATP - 2 Mile

Galadriell Tue, Aug-31-04 10:34

WATP is COOL!!!!

Last January I started my exercise programme with one month WATP every morning before breakfast. In one month I lost 8 lbs (without any diatery changes), my insomnia, headache disappeared. After this one month my body was ready to start a more serious weightlifitng programme as well as a running training. ( I had the WATP programme that use 2 lbs weights, and teaches the basic weight exercises too.)

Way to go!!!

WATP - 1 Mile
(did the one mile today, and will probably do it again tomorrow and wednesday to get myself "warmed up" for the 2 mile, to start on thursday... just to ease back into it after being on vacation, and not working out)

WATP - 1 Mile

WATP - 1 Mile

I will start back with the 2 mile tomorrow. I'm going tonight to buy a video called The Firm Tough Tape 2. It is exactly what I've been looking for - a lifting workout to follow along with. I might have to wait until Friday after work to do that one though, I have to work at 7:30 that morning and no way am I getting up at 4:30 in the morning to work out. I might do it tomorrow afternoon maybe... just to see how it is. I'm starting with baby weights, so dont worry. I've got a set of 2, 3 and 5 pounds each. I think I'll start with the 2 the first time, just to get a feel for it, then go to the 3 on the second time around. I am excited to make some muscle! I'm thinking about some "muscle" goals for myself, after watching the Discovery Health Body Challange Hollywood. I have never in my life been able to do a pull up, so I think I'd like to be able to do 5 or 10 of those. How about 15 or 20 real push ups. I'll think of another couple of goals, maybe 1 or 2 more.

WATP - 2 Mile

It wasnt as hard or as long as I thought it would be :)
I finally managed to find The Firm Tough Tape 2. I have a meeting at work tonight, then inventory, so I might just watch it today and start it tomorrow.

Janetly Sat, Oct-02-04 20:13

I watched TT2 tonight. Wow is that tape intimidating. It looks like a great full body work out but holy cow they move fast. I dont know that I'll be able to keep up with that, but its like anything else - I'll do the best I can.

I did find it terribly amusing that every single person shown in the video was covered from head to toe in body paint. I wonder why they felt the need for that?

I'm going to go do what I can of this tape, I dont have a box or a stick, so I'll improvise.

Wish me luck!

Janetly Sat, Oct-02-04 21:24

It wasnt as bad as I thought. I goes by much faster when you're actually doing it, rather than watching it. I did the whole thing with 2 pound weights, I was too chicken to try them with three. I did the French Presses with 3 pound though, 'cause that was 2 handed!

I am most deffinately out of shape. I was out of breath and sweating like a pig the whole time. It will take me a while to get those odd jumping routienes down, that was a little ackward.

I think my lower body is more out of shape than my upper body. My legs hurt more than my arms is what I mean to say. I'll go tomorrow or Monday and get a box to stand on and a pole for balance.

I took some before pictures, so I can see how my body changes after I've done this for a while. I still need to get them off the camera so I'll post them tomorrow. I'm gonna go eat some cottage cheese.

Go me!

diemde Sat, Oct-02-04 21:57

Yay for you! Great job. I'd like to see that tape sometime. Maybe after I get back from Chicago I can come over and we can try it together.

I started out with the set of 2, 3 and 5 lb weights, too. Don't worry about lifting heavy just yet. Take your time and do proper form. You aren't in a race with anyone on lifting. And remember, I had built up strong muscles just because of being so overweight. My arms did a lot of workouts just lifting my butt up off the couch.

Janetly Mon, Oct-04-04 18:06

I am still sore from that video on saturday. I have to go up and down the stairs fairly often at work, and I felt like an old woman. The guys were joking with me about needing a wheel chair because I couldnt bend down or anything. I was considering doing it again tonight, but I am a little nervous about it still hurting so much. I think I should wait until tomorrow, just to be on the safe side.

I bought the "Fanny Lifter" to go along with the tapes. It came with 4 other dvd workouts (i couldnt buy it alone). If nothing else it will give me some variety :)

Janetly Tue, Oct-05-04 21:08

I didnt work out tonight because I didnt get home until late and watched the debate. Im not sore anymore, so I'll do it tomorrow.
I'm not losing momentum I swear!

Janetly Wed, Oct-06-04 16:46

TT2, 6" box, 2lb weight, 3 lb for lats and french press.
5 day Abs - Day 1

Janetly Mon, Oct-11-04 15:24

TT2 - 8" box (feels more natural), 3lb weights, 5lb for squats and french press.
5 day abs - day 2

Janetly Sun, Oct-17-04 08:45

TT2 - 8" box, 5lb weights.
5 Day Abs - Day 2 (again)

I dont have any heavier weights than 5lb. Though, I think I was doing French Press wrong because I paid more attention this time, and held my elboes closer to my ears and sheesh was it hard!

Janetly Thu, Oct-21-04 15:11

TT2 - 14" box, 5 lbs
5 Day Abs - Day 3

I couldnt do all the leg lifts with the 14 inch box. I did as many as I could but then my leg started shaking. I also had to go back to 3 lb weights for those horrific shoulder moves where you stand up and lean forward and pull your arms back. God those are miserable. I think I'm going to stay where I am until I can do all the reps with the 5 lb weight and the 14 inch box. I have a feeling I'll be there for a while. They keep saying I should feel the leg lifts in my butt, but I feel them much more in my thighs.

I also really need to get in the habit of doing this more than 2x per week. If I can get in one more day a week I'll be happy.

Janetly Sun, Oct-24-04 19:15

TT2 - 14" box, 5 lb weights.
5 Day Abs - Day 1

I got all but about 6 leg lifts on the 14" box (out of 32 total). By the time I get to the end my form is shot and I'm almost jumping back up on the box. I figure this will get better over time. I hope so anyway.
I'm too chiken right now to go for day 4 of the abs. I very nearly didnt do any abs tonight, but then hit the wrong button my player, so I did them anyway.

I keep telling myself, at least I'm doing something!

Janetly Wed, Oct-27-04 16:12

TT2 - 14" box, 5 lb weights.
5 Day Abs - Day 2

Still missed about 6 each on the leg presses.

Janetly Fri, Oct-29-04 15:32

TT2 - 8" box, 5 lb weights.
5 Day Abs - Day 3

I went back to the 8 inch box so I could get all the leg press reps in. I think I'll stick with this for a few more workouts, to build up more strength in my thighs before I go back to the 14" box.

Janetly Tue, Nov-02-04 10:33

TT2 - 8" box, 5 lb weights.
5 Day Abs - Day 4 (lookie day 4!)

I think I pulled a ligament in my leg on those leg extensions. Owie :(

Janetly Thu, Nov-04-04 10:42

TT2 - 8" box, 8 lb weights for everything except leg press (stayed with 5) and the last round of shoulder work (i went with 3).
5 Day Abs - Day 1 (i'm still chicken for day 5!)

Janetly Sun, Nov-07-04 12:17

TT2 - 8" box, 8lb weight, save for shoulder work, which was 5 pound. I did manage to do some lat row with 10 pound :) go me!
5 Day Abs - Day 5. I think they try to psych you out with that, day 5 was the easiest day :)

Janetly Wed, Nov-10-04 17:08

TT2 - 10 pounds for bicep, tricep and lats, 8 pound for lunges and dips, 5 pounds for shoulder work; 14" box for half, 8" box for half
5 Day Abs - Day 1

I decided to do the 14 inch box with no weights to see :) Halfway through I went to the 8 inch box to finish. I'll do it that way until I can do all of the 14 inch with no weights, then I will add weight starting with 5 pounds. I really will come up with a plan that works for me, really... I will!

Janetly Fri, Nov-12-04 18:01

TT2 - 10 pounds for bicep, tricep and lats, 8 pound for lunges and dips, 5 pounds for shoulder work; 14" box for leg press.
5 Day Abs - Day 2

I ended up pausing the tape to get all 30 reps in for the leg press with the 14" box... but I did get 'em all in!!! :cheer:

Janetly Sun, Nov-14-04 14:53

TT2 - 10 pounds for everything except shoulders with 5. I skipped the last round of shoulders and push ups.

I had a really lame work out today. I felt my muscles being sore during the warm up. Today was the first time I didn't finish the whole thing. I just stopped when I couldnt finish an exercize instead of pushing myself to finish, and I just skipped the last round 'cause I wasn't feeling good. Now I have a nasty headache :( Maybe I should have waited one more day after the last one. Oh well, we'll see how it goes next time.

Janetly Mon, Nov-29-04 14:46

Back from my two week hiatus :)

TT2 - 8 " box, 8 pounds for everything except 5 on shoulders and 0 on leg press

No abs today. I dont feel too swell after that work out and I dont want to push it.
