Get Together in London?
 

I said I would try and set up a low carb get together on my return from holiday, so here is the start of the thread.

Firstly, how about meeting up for afternoon tea, well a cup of tea or coffee anyway, on Saturday 4th October, say 2 30 pm? We could meet at one of the London stations. Victoria is good for me and we could sit in the food court in Victoria Plaza.

Have others got any better ideas on timing and venue?

Who would like to come, if we meet for a couple of hours then it will not be too stressful for any of us and we can then think about future meetings.

Looking forward to hearing from all those based within a reasonable distance of central London.

Unfortunately, I'll be away from 29th Sept - 22 Oct. But I'd love to come to something after that.

I'll have too look into the date a bit more and make sure the kids haven't got me booked up for anything and also that my Mum is home on that day as i will drive up to hers and leave the little darlings with her.
If all ok there then i would love to meet up.

I have been thinking of venues but haven't come up with anything. I think the first get together for tea/ coffee is probably the best idea, and one of the Stations would be a good location.

I'd love to meet up but Saturday 4 is out of the question for me. :cry: It would need to be late October or early November for me to join you.

I'ds love to meet up with you, but it is a bit far to come for a cuppa! Maybe next time.

HI Anne, count me in... I would love to meet up - don't know London that well at all, but if I catch a train in it will get me to Kings Cross and from there I am sure I can find my way to Victoria - or if I bus in then I think that gets me into Victoria anyways...

Should be able to make the 4th. I will have to catch the train to either Euston / St Pancras depending on where I decide to travel from and then I can quite easily 'tube' it to Victoria.

To 'Fine' if you fancy meeting up at Kings Cross ( very close to St Pancras ) and then making our way to Victoria together no probs !

I await to hear more.

Ok - I will be there too ... I will get into euston - but will need escorting through the station as I am such a wuss about train stations etc .... but the platform I get to (number 8) is next to the tube'y bit and we can then get the victoria line from euston straight through to Victoria!

Lissa and Fi let me know!!!!

Okey dokey, If I catch the train from Northampton, I too will end up at Euston. Think its also Silverlink, but never known the Train to stop at Hemel, just Milton Keynes.

Fi, we could then meet u at Euston, its about 5 minute walk from Kings Cross ( Straight road, dead easy,) or u could always tube it up to Euston, but I guess it would take just as long to tube it as it is to walk.

I'll have to start looking at train times, once we have some more details from Anne !!

This site is bugging me this morning. This is the second post I have lost!

It is great to see this taking off. I notice that most of the people coming are coming into either Kings Cross or Euston. Should we change the venue to Euston? There is a food court there, on the station. We could sit round the back so we would not see the station concourse. What do you think, particularly Lindy?

I was thinking that we could meet up around 2 30 to 3 pm for a couple of hours. We could then see how it works and plan future, possibly regular events, with dates and venues.

I'm still none the wiser as my Mum is in Italy at the moment, back late Saturday.
I will probably spend the day up in London, it's been a while since i was last there and i haven't visited the museum's for several years so that would nice, or should i just hit Oxford street, carnaby street, Covent garden!! ummm :daze:
Anyway what ever station you pick will be fine by me :thup:

I thought I'd have no chance in hell of making it.... but it looks like I might be able to get up there, now all I have to do is check the return journeys!! Approximately what time will we be finishing?

Id love to be able to make it, I'm going to check which train station I'd come in to from Tiverton!

It would be great if you could make it. Trains from Tiverton Parkway go into Paddington. I see there is one just before 12 which gets into London just after 2, Trains are hourly at 57 mins past the hour.

Return trains go at 35 mins past the hour and suspect you would want to aim for the 4 30 or 5 30 one. You should leave 30 minutes from whichever venue we go to to cross London by tube.

I can't say how long this meeting will last, I would say no longer than 2 hours as then we will be getting hungry! If people wanted to stay on longer or go elsewhere then they could. But lets not get to ambitious for a first get together.

Sorry can't be there - even though I am just one stop on the line to Paddington before Tiverton.

I'll bring my orange copy of Atkins to put on the table to make it plain where we are! Standing up you will have no difficulty spotting me, but it may not be so obvious if I'm sitting down!

Bring your cameras, particularly if you have digital ones so that we can put up photos of our meeting.

Get together will last till 4 30 to 5 pm. Then if others want to do anything afterwards they can.

We can then review success and decide if we should hold regular get togethers. Others have shown an interest, but can not make this date.

would love to come and meet you all nut i live in nottin gham and the furthest i have travelled is leeds and come back on the same day. i have to go to work at night in the hospital so i couldnt come and go on same day sorry folks , wud love to come to next meeting though.
