April dinner

I'm delighted (I was out of town for the February dinner)!!!! I'll be there with bells on!

Sharon :D

Sold Out!

I came back from vacation and lo and behold, the dinner was...

SOLD OUT!

That's 62 people, and I am thrilled. One day, low carb will rule the world!

As an aside, I was walking the dogs yesterday and noticed that there was smoke further down the port. I was hoping it was the sugar refinery, but found out later it was only a car that caught on fire. Imagine that Vancouverites, caramelized sugar pouring into the bay... ;)

I was planning to make reservations for your latest LC dinner at the Fish House but got busy doing other things. Imagine my horror to find out that it is full! I called the restaurant anyway and am on the waiting list .

RATS!

I am just finishing the move (and reno) from hell and booted up the computer to find out that the April dinner is sold out! I'll check the Fish House website to see about getting on the mailing list so that I'll be ready for the next one.

Glad to see that there is so much support for this concept. Perhaps it will encourage other places to add "low carb" selections to their menus. I would be nice to be able to relax and not have to worry about the chef sneaking in sugar and starches in items that should otherwise be low carb. Remember the good old days when there were actually "Atkins" items. And the "Diet" plate was a hamburger patty, cottage cheese and a small green salad? Ooops getting on a rant here.

Congratulations on the dinner Karen, and I hope to see you there one of these nights.

Hi there Karen.......

I'd love to attend one of these dinners, but again.....I'm working that evening. I almost always get to work T/W/T evenings. :daze: Sorry about that.

Hi Colin,

Too bad you're going to miss this one, but we are also meeting this Saturday. Check this thread for more info:

A big thank you to all of the Low-Carb Vancouverites who helped to make this dinner a smashing success!

The room had a great feel to it. Conversation buzzed, wine flowed and I even think the food was good! ;)

I spoke to all the tables and about half of the people were low-carb, and the rest were carb curious. I even met a few people who lurk on this site!

Than you again. I hope to see even more of you at the next LC dinner event which will be on May 30. The theme is Low-Carb with Spice!

Jeanine Fri, Apr-19-02 08:33

Yeaa!!!! I got a call from the Fish House yesterday morning and there was a cancellation so dh and I were able to attend. Sat at a great table with Ruth, said "hi" to Wa'il but didn't get a chance to tell him what a great site he has created. Food and wine was fantastic ! Thank you, Karen. Can't wait for the next LC dinner .

That sounds great. Wish I had delayed my trip now!

Take care.

Also we had a (another!) celebrity, James Barber (the Urban Peasant) was a guest.

Jeanine, nice to have met you, the place was a bit crowded on noisy to get to chat all across the table. Are you coming this Saturday?

Karen Fri, Apr-19-02 10:26

Hi Jeanine!

Sorry that I didn't have a chance to talk to you before you left, I was working my way over there.

Thanks for coming!

Memo to the rest of the Vancouver Lowcarbers:

You missed a fabulous feast last night. Great food, wonderful company and we all had a good time. I may have had too much of a good time :o as I appear to have a mild hangover - the first in about 10 years  Not enough zzzz's is a factor too, but the wine, especially the chardonnay was excellent.

Low carb with spice huh? Tell us more!

fern2340 Sat, Apr-20-02 06:05

I'm jealous and wishing that Vancouver was a bit closer.... :)

Did anyone take any pics????

Karen Sat, Apr-20-02 09:35

Sadly no! Maybe I should invest in a digital camera.

You and Dan should come for a visit. ;)

Karen

fern2340 Sat, Apr-20-02 11:19

We always talk about going to Canada to visit you guys, seriously!! Unfortunately, you are a bit far away! Ok, forgive me for my lack of knowledge but isnt Vancouver near Washington? I think! I was telling Doreen how Canada-ignorant I am. (This is the 2nd time I admited to this and my computer hasn't blown up yet!!!) Dan and I were supposed to go out to Seattle earlier this month but plans fell through. One day.....

Jeanine Sat, Apr-20-02 12:21

Hi, Wa'il. Unfortunately, I can't make it to the gathering this afternoon, my son has a baseball game and I need to be there to cheer him on.

Karen, I'm sorry I didn't get to say hi at the LC dinner and tell you in person how fabulous it was but I'm sure you heard that from everyone.

Would be great to see you guys. Yes, Vancouver is about 30 minutes from the Washington state and British Columbia border, and about 4 hours drive from Seattle.
