Favorite LC Restaurant?

When you do go out, where is your favorite place to eat LC? (I'll bet steakhouses are up there)

I actually found a great place last night. In Texas we have a restaurant chain called the Big Bowl. It's Mongolian Grill style (where you pick out all kinds of ingredients, take it up to the grill and they cook it up.)
TALK ABOUT LC HEAVEN. That place had the following meats to choose from: Beef,Chicken,Brisquet, Pork,Lamb,Turkey,Scallops,Calamari,Crab(real), Shrimp,Fish,Crawfish....and then all kinds of veggies onion, tomatoe, brocolli, cauliflower, even nuts. HEAVEN.
And on top of that...IT'S ALL YOU CAN EAT!!! (just be careful of the sauces)

I can usually find something low carb at almost any restaurant. It's a heck of a lot easier than finding vegetarian items when I used to be vegetarian. The restaurants I like are noncorporate chains. I tend to go for the good independent places. Still can't bring myself to go to a steakhouse. My whole family got sick after eating at one when I was younger (definately food poisoning), so I associate that with steakhouses.

Chili's has a great selection! I LOVE the Mushroom Jack Fajitas! They are really good about holding the carbs and giving you extra veggies, too.

GrooveJock Thu, Jul-10-03 10:50

Golden Corral is my fav. All you eat steak and veggies!

Bebet Thu, Jul-10-03 11:35

Any place I can get a good medium well, ribeye steak, fresh salad and broccoli. MMMM. :yay: Oh yeah, and a kids menu for the uh, kids. These places include, Salt Grass Steakhouse (Texas only??), Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, Cheddars used to have one but they took it off their menu, won't be going back there.

monogram Thu, Jul-10-03 11:44

For breakfast, McDonald's. I ordertwo bacon, egg and cheese biscuits, hold the biscuit. They put them in Chicken McNugget boxes.

For lunch, Hamburger Habit in West Los Angeles. Too bad this isn't a chain, because they make a tuna melt, and they'll put it on lettuce instead of bread that will knock your socks off. I eat these a couple of times a week.

For dinner, Outback Steakhouse or Stuart Anderson's.

I agree. Golden Corral can be a low-carber's dream. Unfortunately, though, the grill seasoning used on the steaks makes me retain a few pounds of water for at least two days after eating there.

Annie-Pie Thu, Jul-10-03 14:42

Yum...Outback keeps getting raves, and we have one here! Have to try it now!
I like the good ol' $1 double cheeseburger without bun/ketchup from McD's, and for dinner, Red Robin is very LC friendly, Newport Bay (Seattle/Portland areas), and TGIF's.
Chili's when we're in Phoenix.
YUM!

Great thread!

Kragness1 Thu, Jul-10-03 14:55

In the eastern half of the USA are restaurants called Roly Polys. They make wrap sandwiches where most of the time the only carbs are in the wrap. They have wheat wraps as an option. I usually get a steak fajita wrap with double meat, and it only 22 carbs. Goto the link for store locations.

candyluver Thu, Jul-10-03 15:37

TGI Fridays :dazzle: They have a Cobb salad to die for :yay:
Also as someone mentioned previous..Out Back Steak House is EXCELLENT :dazzle:

atiaran Thu, Jul-10-03 16:51

Outback or Keg is really good. Also locally have Red Robin which makes a fantastic Cobb salad, and a huge # of seafood places that are great.
Also like Hayden's Grill in Tualatin. They do daily Atkins lunch specials that are about 7 to 10 g carbs.

Tiffanylip Thu, Jul-10-03 20:46

We have a local steak house called The Rib Co. that is great!
Also, I've been looking forward to moving back out to San Antonio, they have this great mongolian barbque place called Ghengis Khan! My mouth is watering just thinking about it....

Applebees...

Hi Everyone,

I am new here...been lurking since I started LCing in June. I first want to thank all of you for the inspirational messages and information. I have learned alot. I have just hit the 10# loss mark this morning. Wow...that is awesome for me. Regarding the restaurant thing, I love Applebees blackened chicken salad and I had it last week with no problems. We went last night and I had the exact same thing as last week and I am totally sick. I was feeling sick 5 minutes after we got home last night and I am still sick to my stomach, etc. this morning. What in the world happened? The salad has blackened chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese, egg and hot bacon mustard dressing. The dressing did look a little separated last night but I just mixed it up. Maybe it was bad. I am paying for it today. Sorry to ramble. Have a great LC day.

Martha

Mexican food is big where I live...so the fajitas platter...the sliced steak or chicken comes on a bed of peppers and onions, with lettuce, salsa, sour cream, cheese, etc. on the side. Just don't use the tortillas...and get a side salad instead of rice and beans. Chevy's is pretty accommodating for this~!

joanne42 Fri, Jul-11-03 10:37

I go to the Grill House and I order hot wings and caesar salad MINUS the croutons.. They also use real bacon in their salads.

Marchstart Fri, Jul-11-03 10:40

I would have to say Red Lobster....shrimp ..shrimp..and a side of shrimp...hehe and THE KEG...wow they have the best steaks.....
Yum this is making me very hungry.....better drink more water.....:)

alexa Fri, Jul-11-03 11:09

I don't think I have the willpower to go to Outback...garlic mashed potatoes, mmm...
Red Robin is my current fave- they are very accommodating.
Jack in the Box for fast food- that chicken fajita pita minus the pita is tasty!

Annie-Pie Fri, Jul-11-03 11:17

Wow, Mariana! I never even thought of fajitas like that! I've been afraid of stepping foot into a Mexican place, but now I know! Thanks!

Martha: If it continues, call the restaurant and tell them you are sick from it. Maybe others got the same thing you had. It may be worth it. Otherwise, it may be the preservatives in the bacon if you aren't used to it. And welcome to this site. Good to hear of your weight loss. Doesn't it feel great!!!
Annie :agree:

Lone Star Steak House has great steaks, of course, and the meal comes with steamed broccoli and you can choose a side "lettuce wedge", which is just that, a big wedge of lettuce with diced tomato covered with bleu cheese dressing - YUM.

TGIFridays has a great "grilled chicked with melted cheese" dish that I get with steamed broccoli instead of the garlic mashed potatoes.

Ruby Tuesdays has a grilled chicken topped with bacon and melted swiss cheese that's to die for.

I've found great LC things to eat almost everywhere we've gone and found most restaurants are very accomodating, but the above are my favorites so far.

martini Fri, Jul-11-03 13:12

I'm going to have to go with Marchstart and say Red Lobster! I think I could eat shrimp forever! But another great place is Bentley's in Stratford. Traditional pub fare, but they have an awesome steak and ceasar salad minus the croutons! Yum!

pegva Mon, Jul-14-03 11:06

Red Robin

I love Red Robin, but haven't been since before I started serious Atkins in January.

So, what do you guys order there? Do you go with the salad stuff or do you orders burgers (my weakness there)? Do you ask for it "sans bun" or do you just take it off the bun when it arrives??

I wanna go back to Red Robin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hysteria Mon, Jul-14-03 19:42

Although I don't eat out much, there are a couple places that are accomodating & have good food...
Logans steakhouse
Outback
Ryan's (in PA) - buffet w/ great steaks & chicken. the only problem is, they have butter rolls & honey butter to smear on them.

Skamito Tue, Jul-15-03 14:21

RED LOBSTER!

Just turn down rolls, potatoes, and fried foods and there are so many choices. Salad, lobster, steak, shrimp scampi, crab legs, veggies doused in garlic butter, mmmmmm.

:yum:

For a quick LC breakfast, Hardee's has an omlette biscuit less the biscuit. It has cheese, ham, bacon & sausage for $2. Get 2 if you're really hungry.

But for Dinner, Outback wins hands down. From their shrimp on the Barbie appetizer, to their salad and either Jack-a-roo Chops, Alice Springs Chicken w/cheese, bacon & mushrooms or the good old OutBack Special (steak). It all LC heaven, now I have an excuse to go more often.

Funny, though it just doesn't taste as good unless you have to wait for a table for at least an hour, STRANGE!!!!
