Well, if it does get moved, I hope someone links to it, or I will NEVER find it again.

Mostly, I go to the web-site now for the walk stuff, but I agree, TDC members can benefit from this, because we need motivation to keep moving. (After all, you can't become a TDC member by running marathons. LOL)

Hi guys,

I won't move this thread anywhere unless you ask me to. :) I was just not wanting to tread on anyone's toes by joining you, as I'm not a true blue TDCer. ;)

I've added another 4.9 Km to the walk around the world. Great concept!

Personally, I think it's great if you want to join in. :) When it started, I think it appealed to us all because maybe we can't achieve the huge goals that people in other places on the site are going for, but we can take it one day at a time... and together we've gone over 1,000 miles already. *g*

I'm biased though... I thought it was such a great idea I made it a webpage to keep track. :)

Breecita Fri, Sep-12-03 13:43

Hey, World Walkers!

We're only about 15 miles from our next goal... and after that is Mazatlan, which is the last goal we have in Mexico so far!

Whoever was going to pick up the next couple stops, it may be time to start researching. *g* We're picking up steam and moving quickly!

It's exciting!

Hi Bree,
I will finish out Mexico and then I'm handing the position over to someone else. I better get in gear!

feather Fri, Sep-12-03 16:48

Well I was gonna do South America, but I forgot about Central America. How dumb was that? So I'll get do that unless some one else volunteers.

Hi All,

Since I finally got a treadmill, I have joined your walk around the world -- I think it's such a WONDERFUL idea!

I just logged my mile for today and I have a question--- Can I log in on a daily basis? I think for me to have confirmation written somewhere that I DID use the treadmill, will help me use it on a daily basis. Would this be okay, or would it be too tedious to enter on a daily basis?

Thanks so much for starting such a wonderful venture! I look foward to adding "my" miles!

Hey! You can log in whenever you want... once a week, once a day, ten times a day! It will work just the same, and that's why I designed it that way. :)

If you click on your name on the front page, it will also lead you to a list of all of your entries. Pretty soon there will be a way to access each person's page from the main menu, and it will add up how many miles/kms you've gone on your personal page. :)

Here you go Bree. This is the last Mexico installment and the first Central American one.

This is a great site that really does tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Mexico City.

Accomodations: Oddly, this was a difficult place to find neat accommodations. I finally just gave up and had a lot more fun at our next destination. There are hotels to be found in the first Mexico City link.

2280 m/ 3669 km
Oaxaca

This site tells you all about the city and state of Oaxaca.

The Day of the Dead in Oaxaca, Mexico. Amazing site! Check it out!

The Pottery of Oaxaca. Make sure that you look at the photo link on this page. Gorgeous!

I have to admit that I chose our accommodations for me, Signey. The opportunity to spend the evening with a master rug weaver and accomplished chef was just too marvelous to ignore.

Hello Everybody!
I hope you have enjoyed our walk through California and Mexico. :)
I've enjoyed the opportunity to be your Travel Guide. It's not only been fun, but I've learned so much from this project. I hope all of us who are taking part in this walking experience will take their turn in this position.

Feather will be taking over our next leg of the journey. I hope you will all welcome and support her as we continue through Central America.

My thanks to Bree for creating a space to post our milage. Without this wonderful site we would not be able to actually see what we are accomplishing as a group. It really is something!

Thanks to all of you who have participated in this journey. You are all awesome and every single mile you have contributed is a triumph!

Hugs to you all!

MisterE Thu, Sep-25-03 10:07

Signey...thanks for your hard work getting us thru California and then Mexico. Somehow, I know if all of us put our collective exercise down in here we can get around the world with ease. Hell, this is coming from the resident with the closest to Grandpappy Amos' limp (The Real McCoy's for those under 50). I have moved more than I have in a month of Sundays. And will continue to do my part...no matter how small...to help the crowd make the journey the rest of the way!

Hope some of the newbies read this thread and decide to jump on board.

Bree, the Walk Webmistress, has given us a great way of posting and charting our distance. So...if you haven't joined give it a look.

Breecita Fri, Sep-26-03 14:12

Since someone had the awesome idea of making some TDC Fitness Challenge graphics, I thought I'd make some World Walk ones for us too. :)

I'm supposed to be in bed on doctors orders, so maybe these aren't the best in the world, but at least we can proudly display them!

If you're computer savvy and have a place to upload them, that'd be great, but my bandwidth should be able to handle everyone linking them, at least for a while. *smiles*

Feel free to link to these in your sig, or anywhere else you'd like to display your pride. :)

And keep your eyes open for some database improvements in the near future!
