Congratulations MisterE and welcome to the walk!

There is an old Japanese saying: "Even against 10,000, I go!". It means you've already defeated your opponents before you've begun any confrontation. It does'nt matter who or what or how many opponents you face. They've alread lost.

There will be many more miles for you.

Great Mexico info

Signey-- I was going to post this in your journal but thought the other trekkers might be interested in it too. The Lonely Planet website (Lonely Planet Mexico Guide ) has some cool stuff about Mexico if anyone wants to take a look. The part I found especially interesting is the advice to not go there in the summer. That's another great thing about being a cyber world traveler-- we don't have to worry about the weather!

Anyway, I can't wait to go & update my miles/kilometers. The site looks fantastic!!

Thanks for the tip HtC! Looks like a great resource for our trip!

We're really moving now. You Northern Hemisphere LCers went through Santa Barbara while I was asleep. Mr E you haven't posted the K's I gave you. If they're not on tonight I'll put them on for you. Have a great Thursday folks its nearly 3pm 26/6/03 here so I'd better go and get the kids from school

Woo Hoo, I've never been to Disneyland before. LOL

Signey Fri, Jun-27-03 14:40

Pirate's of the Caribbean a Virtual Disneyland Ride.

It starts uptstairs next to a very nice Louisiana resturant. You are in a boat in a darkened swamp. The air is cool and there's the sounds of crickets and bullfrogs. You glide through the swamp and see the little shacks that the locals live in. Then you hear rushing water! The boats speed picks up and you realize that you are about to plummet down a waterfall into darkness. There's a talking Davey Jones skeleton head up above you saying "Dead Men Tell No Tales!" and you are swallowed up by the darkness as you hurtle down multiple waterfalls.
Then it's quiet again and you are propelled through the underground tunnels of the pirate's lair. There you see skeletons with piles of pirate booty. Drinking rum and carousing in their awful state of death. (of course this is all done in a tasteful Disney sort of way)
Finally the caverns end and the stream opens up into a dockside panorama of pirates raiding a Louisiana dockside. Singing with vigor "yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me!" Looting and pillaging, they raise havok in the little town on the water.
Then you are drawn back up into the quiet of the Louisana swamp. Somehow you and your crew have managed to come through unscathed by the evil pirates!
Arg matey! That be my favorite Disney ride!

WOW, I am reading and old Clive Cussler novel Iceberg , its getting near the end and Dirk Pitt is trying to stop a double assasination.....In the Pirates of the Carribean ride at Disney.

I am a believer in the interconnectedness of everything, now the question is... are we walking to Disneyland because I am reading the book, or am I reading the book because we are walking there?

Hi Bree!
Here are part of the travel plans for Mexico. I figured at the rate we are traveling I better send you this so that we're assured of having a destination. :)

This is such a neat idea!

I just recently became active again in the low carb lifestyle and this forum. Someone kindly welcomed me and mentioned this activity. I'm going to get started right away!

Hi Patti!
I'm so glad you've decided to join us. I think you'll have alot of fun. Did you find the website that has our Walk Around the World statistics? It's at http://www.tapfer.org/worldwalk/
Don't forget to pack some extra water and some sunscreen. Oh! And a hat! It's getting pretty warm in those southern climes.
Have Fun!
Signey

Yes, I found the website and have registered. Although I don't have any miles to report yet.

But thanks for all the helpful advice! I'm very fair and burn oh so easily. I'm usually cautious but had completely forgotten about sunscreen. :D

Only 1/2 mile to disneyland. No contributions from me this past week. I've been getting a free ride. Just as well some of us are off our butts. I'll be back into it tomorrow though.

MisterE Sun, Jul-13-03 09:49

OK. I did another mile and am about to post it. There should be angels singing from on High and circus clowns tooting out my name on French Horns made of cheese. It takes me long enough that there should be some kind of celebration.

And I posted in here to bring this thread back to the top of the heap in case any of the new members had not seen it. A good thing to refresh memories as this is a way cool way to do exercise.

PSSST: Bree, I am still clapping over the wonderful job you did on the walk website. Your ears should be burning as much as I sing your praises, dearheart. You done real good.

THank you, thank you, thank you! :D But really, it was nothing... just doing what I love to do. ;)

We're almost .2% of the way around the world! Go us!

feather Tue, Jul-29-03 03:15

I've worked out that I've walked at least 5k since I last posted. Walking from garage after I dropped my car off, and taking kids around waterfront etc So I get to make a post to the site at last.
We've now done 583.38 miles between us. I think we must be getting pretty close to catching those kids I mentioned on my first post on this thread. I've checked up and we've covered 2/3rds of the distance they covered. Yeah us, those kids better watch out. :yay: :yay:
