KIS Day 2

Well, I haven't had any cravings or ickiness today, so far. Yesterday, I was feeling a little grumpy and tired, but I may have just been grumpy and tired--it didn't feel all that food-related. I'm not going to weigh myself until next Sunday (one week) hopefully will have some good progress to share. Miss the cream with tea in the morning, but have made a pretty decent switch to decaf green tea (hand-stuffed into those little white bags by asian pixies!) but, I think I'm drinking too much. It's so rainy and cold here that a big glass of water is just not appealing, although I have had several glasses of plain water (no tea) warmed up in the microwave. yum! Don't even try to suggest putting lemon juice in it, I drank that once, fifteen years ago (during stint as "the world's fattest vegan") and puked it all right back up again. As anyone who's ever had lemon pulp lodged in her sinuses can tell you, I'll never try that again!

Here is my menu (so far) for today:

B: two eggs scrambled in olive oil, with half a cup of baby portabellos (still missing the butter with mush combo)
L: left over ground turkey meatloaf with mayo (I have decided to leave off the butter, but not the mayo, although I WILL try to substitute olive oil aoli as SOON as I can figure out how to make it. ) there was enough onion in the meatloaf to qualify for .25 cup of veggies

Just not really hungry, guess it's working.

edit:

OK, I guess I suddenly got hungry later because this is what I had:

L: (pt 2) One leg quarter, with olive oil, baked
D: 5.5 oz ground chuck (stew meat) boiled til dead, and then fried in yet more olive oil, with two green onions, chopped and two eggs, LOTS of tabasco sauce (touched by human hands, I know! I know!)
OINK! fitday records all this in at a whopping 1800 kc! And that's without ANY dairy!
Better start exercising soon.

Jasmine

Congrats to everyone who has started their challenge already  :)

I'll be starting on Sunday, as I've got a couple of things going on with New Year celebrations etc and although I know that I can stay low carb, I don't think I'd be able to stick strictly with KIS

I'll also be weighing myself then - haven't been on the scales for a while so it should be interesting!

Am I doing the KISS diet right?
Yesterday I had all my veges at lunch and today I planned to have them at dinner. So I went more than a day with basically no carbs. My ketostix were the darkest color today, I was super thirsty all day and when I went walking I got very light-headed. After I had a large carb heavy dinner I felt fine again. Today was the 7th day, I lost 6.5lbs, I think that is too much to lose for my body. (Never thought I'd have that problem). Somehow have to get my carbs higher- with just veges right?

Also I'm super bloated. Is it because I usually eat way more fiber? Anyone know some good high fiber veges?

Karen Lynn Tue, Dec-30-03 10:03

I have to space my vege's out during the day or I get lightheaded and feel "spacey". I have problems with my sugar though. Maybe this would help you more since your rules say unlimited vege's? Do you eat tomato's? I've found it helps if I keep them around for those lightheaded moments. You know, the little cherry, or grape tomatoes. They are really good by themselves and usually only a handful or so help me out.

Good luck,
Karen

edit- I think there's a thread somewhere on here talking about high fiber vege's. I'm not sure why you are bloating though. Are you using vinegar? soy sauce? If you have a problem with candida, this may aggravate it.

nawchem Tue, Dec-30-03 14:14

thanx Karen! I have hypoglycemia so maybe its a blood sugar problem. I just bought some tomatos will try that and spacing more. I haven't eaten any vinegar or soy sauce and my weight was up 2 pounds today. Glad I'm not the only one that has gotten lightheaded.

Hi all,
Well I am having trouble getting the FFP book in my area the libery is doing a search for me. So, I guess I will start KISS on the 2nd. Then I will go from there. I did read the web site on FFP and could follow some of those rules too. I am having trouble finding the phsillum husks I live the country so sme things are harder to get. I could make a trip to the city and look there. Any suggestions for me?? I found the cranberry juice so I plan to try that also. I take the Atkins supplements: basic 3, Essen. Oils,Accel, Dieters Adv. Will these be ok for now or should I look into something else? Thank Holly

Fat Flush Plan in a nutshell....

DAILY INTAKE:
  • 8 oz. of protein (lean meats, no pork)
  • Unlimited very low starch veggies - broccoli, cukes, kale, squash, etc.
  • 2 pieces of fruit (no bananas or melons - a cup of berries is good also)
  • 2 tbsp. of flax oil
  • 2 eggs per day
  • 48 oz. (6-8 oz. glasses) of cranwater.... Cranwater: 56 oz. of water mixed with 8 oz. of unsweetened cranberry juice make 64 oz. of cranwater - 48 oz. for during the day, and 16 oz. for long life cocktail (see below).
  • Long Life Cocktail (at waking and right before bed): 8 oz. of water mixed with 1 tsp. of powdered (plain) psyllium husks OR 1 tbsp. ground flaxseed
  • 8 oz. of hot water w/1 tbsp. of fresh lemon juice before breakfast
  • 360-400 mg. of GLA in the form of Evening Primrose, Borage Oil, or straight GLA capsules

The only acceptable sweetener is Stevia. You might need it for the Cranwater, cause dang it's bitter! You can also take a multivitamin, and a "liver-loving" supplement with dandelion root and/or milk thistle in it. She's all about taking care of your liver.

I'm starting KIS on the 2nd. I'm honestly looking forward to it, because I've been eating dairy again and it doesn't agree with me at all.

I knwo this is a slightly silly question, but I need to know. Can you drink too much water? I drink anywhere from 220 to over 300 ounces a day. I was wodnerign if you could drink too much? Thanks :)

Cindylynn, I don't mean to scare you, and others may disagree, but Yes you can drink too much water. You can overindulge on anything. Do you remember not too long ago, parents who made their kid drink too uch water and she died. I don't know how much is too much, but if you're asking the question, I'd advise you to think twice. There is a formula which I unfortunately don't remember, for how much you should drink. Maybe doreen will see this post and tell you the formula. chris

Hi all

Hugs Cori :bhug:

Im really tired and not feeling well so hope to actually read up on how you are all doing tomorrow ...

Ive completed my 4th day on Kiss and Im down 5 pounds. I had gained from the holidays to 152 to 162....started KISS at 159, and am 154..so its helping me get back on track.

Got a question mainly for KISSers but also maybe for those on the FFP -I do not know how low your calories go on that plan...but I was wondering...

What prevents the body from going into that protective starvation mode when cals get too low? Ive been at the 750-1000 calorie range...does ketosis block that from happening? Anyone know?

If it does then it brings up another interesting question that Im wondering about. It seems that one could get into ketosis...and then fast on nothing and the body would burn fat reserves..NOT that Im considering doing it..but its just interesting to know. It further seems that if that indeed does work ...that this type of fasting would be even more efficient than the traditional method of fasting? Ie...getting to the ketosis phase alot more comfortable then fasting on nothing for days to get there..

Does anyone know of anyones thats done this, and what the results were?

No biggie if no-one has an answer for the latter but I am hoping someone knows IF and if not then WHY doesnt the starvation mode mechanism get triggered on a KISS diet.

Thanks...hope that all made sense Im typing in mindnumbing exhaustion.

Have a good night all,
Glim.

On the Fat Flush Plan, Does anyone have the recipie for making your own cranberry juice? Can you just juice the berries? And, does this have to be taken every day? All that cranberry juice? We will be floating just like the cranberries do!!!!!!! mary

FromVA Wed, Dec-31-03 09:16

Oh, NOOOOOO. I just added coffee and diet coke back into my eating plan and have so much more energy! I think I will wait a couple of weeks to start KISS afterall. (I posted this just so I could get e-mail notifications to keep up with how everyone is doing :).)

Homemade Cranberry Juice

12 oz. bag of cranberries
4 cups of water

Boil until cranberries pop and juice is nice and dark red/wine colored. Strain and cool. Makes about 32 oz. of juice - enough to last 4 days on the Fat Flush Plan!
