Hated to do this but I need to be accountable for the weight gain as well as losses. I'm back on induction after getting on the scale this morning. Hopefully the 6 pound gain which occured since xmas will make a hasty departure.

taking new members?

Are you still taking new members?

My in-laws have been in town since December 7th (they are leaving January 7th) The miraculous thing is that I haven't smoked a cigarette, gained only 4 pounds, and have been able to at least walk the dog at night if I don't make it to the gym.

I'd like to reach my maintenance weight goal by the end of April. I started Atkins in May of 2003 so this is a perfect time to reach my goal! For easter I would like to be between 145 and 140lbs.

How do I add my name to the list?

Happy New Years, from Nova Scotia.
Had a great dinner last night of lobster and butter, got to love that they were in the water and on the table on the same day. The best part is that it was all LC. I did have 2-4oz glasses of dry red wine, but I skipped the sausage rolls in puff pastery and the antipasto on crackers, had 2 pieces of celery with a cream cheese salsa dip. I felt good, and am very proud of my first New Years Eve that I didn't blow my eating plan totally out the window.
I'm hoping that everyone was able to keep it under control last night and if you didn't, well what are you going to do today, it's the first day of a new year?
I was the one that asked about the coffee, the reason being, I find that some days I'm not hungry til about 11 a.m. if I get into more than a cup or two of coffee in the morning and then I have to rain myself in hard to keep the rest of the day low carb., I know that coffee can raise your blood sugar level. But I have to admit I am addicted. I've tried several times to kick the coffee, but I get such headaches I'm not worth being around. I just wanted to know how others deal with the "coffee monster".

Hi Domus, think its a case of the more the merrier !!! :yay: Ive added your name and start weight to this list, Ive left your goal weight for easter blank - wasnt sure what to put !!! Now all you need to do, is each tuesday when you weigh in, cut and paste the most upto date list of names into your 'reply', then update your weight loss ( positive thinking and all that !!!) and then just submit your reply !!

Good luck and happy new year !!

Just stopping by to wish every one of you a blessed and happy year! I got up this morning, and cleaned out all remaining remnants of high-carb treats that were left from the holidays. Now, if I can just get into exercise mode…..

Happy New Year from California!

I am cleaning and tossing out junk today. Hopefully I won't replace it this year with more junk.

Jo-Ann-2 I quit coffee a few years ago. It was so difficult I've never had another cup of caffeinated coffee. I still love the smell. I figured out how much coffee I drank on average- say 4 cups a day. For the first week I held myself to drinking 4, the next week 3, it became difficult at 2 cups so I did that for 2 weeks, then 1 the next week. Then I replaced my coffee with diet coke, since it had less caffeine then the coffee. By that time I no longer needed to have caffeine. There is a wonderful product called teechino that satisfies that warm coffee in the morning desire. You can read about it on net, many doctors recommend it as a health aid. We're lucky we can put cream in it, its pretty yummy.

I started the candida diet today as well as taking probiotics. My doctor told me that avoiding foods you are allergic to can help with weight loss. Almost everyone is allergic to about a dozen foods. So while I'm waiting for the results I am trying to avoid fungi foods.

Also, I started induction last week, lost weight 6 pounds but 3 came back and have been really bloated, but my face looks thinner. I never did induction before. Has this happened with anyone else?

tataleigh2 Thu, Jan-01-04 19:14

Jo-Ann 2, you spoke of the coffee monster, Myself I haven't really wanted any coffee. I was not hooked on it for months. Actually I started drinking coffee with my mother-in-law a couple of years ago. But when she and her husband went out of town to work, I didn't want any. I guess it wasn't as fun to drink coffee by myself. Then just last year my aunt moved in with us and I started back drinking coffee. It wasn't so bad there were many mornings where I didn't want any. The only thing I miss is my DR.PEPPER. Now I went everyday with a bottled Dr. Pepper in my hand, until Dec. 1st when I started Lcing. Now its water or Crystal Lite, mostly water. Oh before I forget HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. I wanted to cheat last nite but when it came right down to it I couldn't. My drink is Jack Daniels and coke. I thought to myself I have lost a totally of 20 lbs in one month I didn't want to take a chance of falling off the wagon. I do hope everyone had a safe new year and has a great new year. I was to drained today to do my exercises. I'll just double up tomorrow. Until later good luck all.

Okay, so I've gained 5lbs since Christmas day. Oops!

I had meant to not go off plan for the holidays but I had some rocky road and pie and ice cream and fudge and, well....a week later I've gone back on induction. I'm sure most of what I gained it water weight, though not all. I'm hoping 148lbs is still attainable for me by Easter.

I go to Curves and I've also joined another gym to go to with my boyfriend. I've got a very formal dinner to go to at the end of January so I'm really concentrating on being below 160 before then (155 would be awesome but that's asking a lot...).

Easter

[FONT=Comic Sans MS][COLOR=Purple]Hi Everyone. It is so hard to restart after being off for so long.. The worst is the chocolet that was in my stocking. But I know that this program works, It worked for me when I followed it. I had a couple of months set back and really am excited to get going again. I didnt prepare myself this time I forgot to go shopping for things that I am choosing to eat. I will defiantly have to go tomorrow and get some good munchies for me. Lots of whipped cream...It was my favorite when the family was eating ice cream. However I did discover that the Bryers Low Carb ice cream is pretty good. Not quite the same as their natural vanilla, but better than most other brands of ice cream, and the bonus is that at Albertsons it is the same price as other regular ice cream. Unlike the Atkins ice cream. ok thats it for my Bryers plug. I do feel that I was fortunate to only gain 4 pounds since the beginning of Nov. My goal is to get to 135. Not sure when is a resonable time to be there but I will just keep losing and working at it till I get there.

Happy New Year......

Jo-Ann 2 Fri, Jan-02-04 08:03

Good Morning All

Nawchem-I tried a plan very similiar to yours last year, the headaches were very intense. I started with my regular coffee then split it with decaf., then discovered half caf. coffee, I then split that with decaf. This is when the headaches started. It might have been the decaf. process used. Maybe it was a chemical reaction that my body just didn't like. I've tried to keep myself to two cups then water and crystal light for the rest of the day. With maybe a cup of tea mid afternoon.
I have to make a quiche today and get some more salad greens for the weekend. I think I'll cook up a little more bacon so I have it in the fridge for a quick snack. I need to buy some more broccoli too.
So how is everyone? Thanks for the coffee info. It is just barely snowing here. The weather has been unseasonally warm this year. Even New Foundland has rain instead of snow this year. No, we haven't affected our ozone layer and cutting down all those trees in our rainforests has had no effect at all. I'm not preaching, I'm just saying the weather has been really different the last couple of years. We even had a hurricane up here in Sept., never seen anything like it before in my life. I race sailboats and I know what strong winds and big seas are like, but a 6 foot surge, was just mind boggling. Don't know where all that info. came from, definitely off topic.
Hope we all have a LC day. I'm off

Morning All

Well the temperature dropped last night and I think winter has arrived in Nova Scotia. Did my grocery shopping last night. Had to go into the center aisles for somethings for school lunches, but other than that, it was the wall aisles. Got home and went to pack the freezer and noticed, I've stopped being a pack rat in the rest of the house and have become one in the food department. I think other than the milk products and fresh veggies, I'm set for the month, which surprised the heck out of me. But it was nice, once this stuff is gone, it's time to defrost the freezer.
The coffee is good this morning, I'm down to two cups, and I think it's time to make a quiche.
I joined the 100 cheatfree challenge last night, after spending considerable time figuring out how to get the cheatfree signature on my post. It's fun to be back on the site again.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day.

nawchem Sat, Jan-03-04 10:47

I wish I wasn't a packrat. I'm cleaning up the living room today. If someone knocked on the door at the moment I wouldn't open it!

Jo-Ann what is your recipe for quiche? I have never eaten one- I was a partial vegan before atkins.

I have a number of small physical disorders and I found that losing weight was making them worse at first, especially the lowblood sugar. I guess my body has gotten used to it and now I feel better everyday.

I have noticed that my complexion looks really healthy on this WOL. Has anyone else had this happen? My pores are smaller, my skin isn't dry or so red looking. My fingernails are growing super long. Woo hoo.

Jo-Ann 2 Sat, Jan-03-04 14:02

Nawchem, I'm in a cooking marathon today.
The quiche I make, I fear will not fit into your list. My quiche of choice is the one under the "kitchen-Low Carb" thread under Breakfast ideas. It's "Yet another.... breakfast quiche". I use 17 eggs and a little more cream cheese and whip cream and add a little orange pepper to my green onions when I fry them before I add them to the Cheese base. I use a couple mushrooms and a few slices of bacon to mine. I use a larger dish of course. It's not a definitely recipe but is different than the one I usually make.
I've made up a chicken broccoli bake and a Donair recipe, both found in this kitchen thread. I'll tell you how they turn out.
The buzzer is calling me.

Let me know if it's too late to join this challenge!! It's the only one that works for me. Now if I can only remember to post. I have set a personal goal of 160 by March 1st (Im currently at 177)so by Easter which is about 6 weeks after 3/1 I will shoot for 155. I want to be realistic. I'm a slow loser.

Hope I can join in on the fun?? Going to try and start at the gym again this Monday and since I'll be back to work it'll be much easier to watch what I'm eating than being home. It's hardest on the weekends that's for sure.

Charlene
