Thanks Bree. I've just logged in my distance for last week. I put it in as "combined" is that OK.
Is it too rude to ask if there's any way we can log in the 89.8miles & dewdropts 3.5miles. It would be a shame to loose them.
Signey I had a look at the distance sight. Pretty Cool, I think we better choose somewhere else other than NZ to leave from. If we leave from Wgton and go West its 1400miles across the tasman before we get to Australia. If we go the other way its 5800 miles across the pacific to Santiago, Chile. Sorry but we're a long way from anywhere. Why don't you choose a starting point for us.
Bye for now
Here's a world map.

Thanks Bree...
What a clever girl you are...that is all beyond me...but very cool we have our own place to go now to log our miles.
Thank you so much

Breecita Wed, Jun-11-03 04:56

I'll go through this thread and log all the distance people put in. :D It won't be much work at all!

Edited to Update:

Okay! I've been through the entire thread, and added everyone who has reported miles. (I added everyone as their screenname, but it can easily be changed if you'd like something else. I just figured this way, there would be no duplicates. If anyone wants to change, PM me or contact me, and I can edit it.)

Our total with this information and the stuff added into the database looks like: 99.46 Miles / 161.95 Kilometers.

According to the distance around the world that was posted by someone (MisterE I think?) that woudl put us at 0.0399% *g*

Everyone who wants to update can update as many times as they want... three times a day if they feel like it, and there won't be any problems.

Feather... since you started it, do you want to think of something to put on the main page? Maybe even just the text of your first post... because I think it was such a good idea. *g*

Okay, everyone go crazy with the adding! :D

The URL again is:

http://www.tapfer.org/worldwalk/index.php

If you've posted a distance to this thread, you don't have to join because your screenname is already in the database. :)

Hello,

I did laps on Monday to the tune of 1 mile.

Thanks,

Cool web site!! I haven't been very active this week, but I did go to curves last night and did my workout. WooHoo

Signey Wed, Jun-11-03 15:53

Bree you are awesome! What a cool webpage! I put my name in and my miles so I'm up to date. Bree can you remove one of my names from the list? I did not realize that you had done this for me already and so I'm now redundent. Two too many Signey's. :p

Feather, Bree has done such a great job on the Around the World Count Down. Do we really need destinations now? I'm happy to figure it out if it's wanted but perhaps it's guilding the lilly? Let me know.

Breecita Wed, Jun-11-03 19:24

As for destinations... *g* If someone wants to figure out a path, we can figure out how many miles/kilometers to each destination, and I can program them in pretty easy.

So when our mile count got to a certain number, it would say on the webpage, "We've just reached Such And Such a Place... our next goal is So Many Miles away ... Such and Such a New Place."

All I need is a list of destinations with how many miles/kms in between.

That's why I love computers. ;) I can make them do what I want. :D

Bree! You are soooo cool! What a talent. I will be happy to put the data together if you can input it to the page. I was thinking that moving approx. through the middle of the United States and then on through Europe might be good. Or, we could start in San Francisco, go down through Mexico and South America and then across Africa and then up through Europe and China into Eastern Russia and then to Alaska, down the ALCAN Hwy. to the U.S. and to our starting point in San Francisco. I'm rather fond of this route but it will be abit longer than exactly around the world.
What do you all think? Suggestions are happily accepted. :)

Oooops!

Bree,
Help! I logged in my hours tonight and put it with the Signey that I thought was the one that had all of my hours. It wasn't. :( Can you put my hours all together? Sorry....
Signey

feather Thu, Jun-12-03 02:48

Hi Everyone.
Signey & Bree I think your ideas are brilliant. My driving skills on the computer are not particularly good, so I'm not sure what I can do to help. One thing I can do, is contact new people who join (through their journals) and tell them about the web site. I just did that for alighterme.
Bree whatever you think is best for the web page is fine by me. I don't feel that I own the thread. Sure I started it, but the idea wasn't mine, pure plagiarism.

Thanks for gilding the lilly, I think your route will be a lot more interesting than leaving from here. I did a tour on the back of a truck right through Africa, from Kenya to Morrocco about 25 years ago, this seems a much more sensible way of doing it.

Bye for now.

No problem! I consolidated our duplicates (no worries, you weren't the only one *g*) and put a little menu on the join page so people can check to see if they're on the list before they join.

Once you've got a starting point and a couple of distances, let me know. I don't need the WHOLE route right at first... just the first few stops and I can get the program working. :)

Ellen-mom Thu, Jun-12-03 08:05

What if everyone says one place they would like to go, and we could map a route using our favorite places. I could figure out the distance between all of our favorites, and then Bree could work her magic with the web site.

I have always wanted to see the Great Wall of China.

Tiggerdy Thu, Jun-12-03 09:16

I've heard that the coast of Spain is beautiful... plus there's the architecture to look at. Heck, anywhere warm and on a coast is good for me!! ;)

Oh the places we'll go...

Nikki :daizy:

Signey Thu, Jun-12-03 16:31

How about this? I'll get us going on a route starting from San Francisco and move us down the coast. Is there anyone who is in love with Mexico? They can pick it up from there. Then someone can do South America. We can just divide the world into chunks and we can visit the places that inspire us.

Bree, Thank you for fixing my goof. Your a luv!

Feather, This is such fun! Thanks again for the wonderful idea!
