TeachinNV- I had some made up at the butchers with low salt. They were very accomidating. Maybe there is one near you that would work with you.--- Las Vegas--I would love to trade you places. I am in Michigan. Of course we love to visit there and have not been back for 3 years.

cannot locate any bacon that is nitrate free. Can anyone tell me a brand?

I have never found any either. I have come accross nitrate free lunch meats and unprocessed hotdogs, but those are at health food stores and cost an arm and a leg.

I'd say if you aren't consuming alot of procesed foods such as lunch meat, salamai and so on, then don't worry about it. Instead just try to find some sugar free bacon (another almost impossible task) or low sugar bacon.

Jenni-o extra lean turkey bacon was sugar free. The Walmart here stopepd carryign it in favor of the regular turkey bacon, which of course has sugars :P

I saw one bacon that labled the front "Sugar Cured Bacon" I felt like saying "well d'uh all bacon is sugar cured" It's like having a package that proclaims "All meat chicken" Then again even in the butchers case you can't always be sure of that any more :P They add sugar to everything (ok rant mode off)

I have a yogurt maker but haven't tried making any yet. Do you use heavy cream?

weekdays, i'm too rushed to make anything, so i eat advantage bars for my breakfast. the only problem i have is that my local stores don't always have my favorite flavors! weekends, i sometimes have lc cereal, or nuts, or sometimes even lc ice cream! (gasp!)

Bacon. Sausage. That's about it. I can't stand eggs, so that's my menu. Had some LC bread toast today, and decided that I would rather have bacon.

I love this place!

Favorite breakfast: egg and shrimp salad with mayo and lots of pepper!

P.S. First time back since June. Managed to put on 11 pounds since then, but the New Year's resolution is STRONG! :yay:

Thanks for the great suggestions!

Omlettes are number one for me -- hubby makes them so chock-filled with yummy stuff that they almost taste like calzones. We'll eat them with both cheddar and swiss, and add leftover bacon pieces, crumbled sausage, leftover hamburgers... yummmm :yum:

bcadieux, I use CarbCountdown milk (3 carbs per cup) for my yogurt, it is SUPER! :)

LadyBelle Thu, Jan-08-04 13:54

bcadieux-

You can also try using 1/2 LC milk and 1/2 cream I did this over the holidays. The result was so thick there was no whey at all. And dang it was good.

I won't do it again as I try to aovid cream (trigger food for me) but if you are looking to up your fat intake 1/2 cup of that would definetly do it :)

I used the Yogurtmert starter you can get at many health food stores or online (I bought mine online from www.wildernesfamilynaturals.com ) If you use regular store bought yogurt as a starter, be sure to count the added carbs. After your first batch, just reserve out 1/2 cup befor eyou add sweetners or anything to start your next batch. You may have to get new cultures every few batches to keep things going.

My favorite breakfast, which I only have on occasion is Eggs Benedict w/o the muffin. Lately I've been having a salad with turkey on it for breakfast, might sound strange but it gives me a lot of energy!

Bacon and eggs with hot sauce! Some cheese is nice if I can find some in the fridge also
