Hardest about Lo-Cal:

1) Hunger
2) No bacon or sausage or high fat meats
3) Having any calories to spare at dinnertime

Hardest about Lo-Carb

1) Church potlucks
2) Fast Food Restaurants
3) Having my family leave me leftovers from dinner (they love the recipes I've been trying)

Hardest about Lo Cal

1. Yo -Yo weight loss/gain
2. Being bloated and gassy even though I was eating "healthy"
3. No energy

Hardest about Lo carb

1. I miss hot fresh baked bread (4pm every day at the store) :(
2. Eating breakfast (I'm always running late in the am)
3. Requires more trips to the grocery store.

LOL...I missed the fresh bread too at 4:00 p.m. for a long time too!

Trouble is, it never made it out of the store before an end was ripped off...then the first quarter of the loaf got eaten in the car...
WAY too tempting then... :D

Now, I could care less about any kind of bread...thankfully, I'm no longer interested in those kinds of carbs...

But I DO miss my desserts...

3 most difficult concepts on high-carb

1. Being generally tired all the time, especially the mid-afternoon crash.
2. Hearing from well-meaning family and friends that I should "someday get around to doing something about it"
3. Spending money on prescription BP and reflux meds that I shouldn't have to.

3 most difficult concepts on low-carb

1. There are some foods I still ponder wistfully in the grocery aisles.
2. Meal planning and organization -- I love cooking, it's my one great artistic channel, but (as Caitlin will attest) I am somewhat lacking in preplanning and organizational skills.
3. Accepting the flavor of artificial sweeteners. Even stevia tastes off to me; I've never found one that hits the same flavor note for me.

Difficult on hi carb/low fat:

1. Always hungry
2. Not being able to have tasty spreads, dressings, sauces with my food. (forget the fat free margerine, I wanted butter!)
3. Not losing weight except really slowly

Difficult on low carb:

1. Planning meals ahead. I'm disorganized and not much of a cook.
2. Finding suitable snacks . . . I am a nibbler.
3. Breakfast. In the morning I have, oh, about 8 minutes alloted for breakfast, and LC is definitely slower than hi carb!

Hardest about lo-cal:

1. Never really full or satisfied no matter how much ate. I've managed to eat an entire 10" cherry pie in one sitting by myself and a few hours had a couple of bagels.

2. Low fat cheese tastes gross.

3. Counting every single calorie in order to maintain weight

Hardest about lo-carb:

1. Can't eat the foods I grew up with as they're primarily high carb. I miss my Grandma's cooking. :(

2. I love Mexican and Italian food and I have been avoiding these restaurants since I started LCing as I don't think that I can resist the bread basket, chips or pasta. Maybe one day.

3. Have to plan meals, especially when away from the home. It's not as easy as stopping by McDonald's for 20 piece chicken nuggets that you can easily eat while driving.
