Nope, I honestly didn't know until this thread sparked me off to find out more about it. I've found out that 12 US ounces is 0.3549 litres, so I guess that means that there's 9.0g of carbs in a litre of Miller Lite.

I'm finding it incredibly difficult to find a stockist of Miller Lite in the UK though. And if we go elsewhere for this, it causes a headache with Customs & Excise, particularly if I can't find a stockist anywhere in Europe. I asked at an offy, and apparently it used to be commonplace, but they've withdrawn it.

Anyone know of any stockists absolutely anywhere in UK or Europe? Thanks. :)

Not kidding, it really is difficult to find it in the UK. Just phoned up ten offy's in the yellow pages, got four answering machines, and the other six all said they don't stock it. Oh well. I've kept a log of it, so I know which four had answering machines - I can try them again some other time. There's loads more numbers I haven't even tried yet. But failing that, it looks like I'm going to have to find a specialist.

Squidgy, I recommend you post your queries and hunt results in the Local LowCarbing:UK forum, as well. Your countrymen/women might be of more help if they are aware of your search.

I'd move these posts (with a redirect pointer for anyone to follow here in the Products forum) for you, but I'm kind of swamped right now. However, that's the place you will find more of those who can help.

Low-carb beer

Hi everyone
I;ve been on low-carb since 1997. The weight came off very fast. I went from 147 to 134 to 127 to 119 (Too Thin). My idea weight is 125 lbs. Somehow through life crises I am now around 130-135. I think it is the wine (2- glass daily). I heard over the radio that there is a low-carb beer/wine on the market. Has anyone else came across this information? New kid on the block

Miller Lite has 3.2 grams of carbs and the new Michelob Ultra has 2.8 or 2.9. The best news, however, is that Guinness Stout has only 5.2, which is still much lower than the 11 or 12 grams in regular beer.

Beer

I have tried to find Michelob Ultra here in NW Indiana, to no avail. Apparently, it all sold out in Chicago! On my last trip into the city, I saw three billboards (count 'em... THREE) for "Michelob Ultra... the new Low Carb light beer." The word is spreading!

Anyone know about regular Pils, ie Holsten or similar. I remember a diabetic friend drinking it because it has less sugar in. How do you find out. Nowhere round here stocks Miller Lite or the Michelob.

JayKay, you can always write/email/telephone any beer manufacturer and request the nutritional information... worth a try.

Or do some web research on your different types as described. Search engines are amazing.

Meanwhile, September 13th Anheuser-Busch announced what appears to be a nation-wide roll-out of the Michelob Ultra. I gues the pilot runs sold well!

very good beer

Hi all
My husband brought home the michelob ultra (low carb) beer and it was quite good. It really tastes like a completely normal beer!! I am not a big drinker, but everyonce in awhile I just want a good old beer.
Definitely worth trying...

Just saw it in the local grocery store in Atlanta, GA, so it's being tested in more markets!

Michelob Ultra Lite L/C Beer

Well I had my first taste of this L/C Lite beer this weekend and I was pleasantly surprised...it was good! I felt like I wasn't missing anything in taste and for someone like me who used to be a die-hard Coors Original drinker and stopped drinking beer completely these last 6 months, this new Ultra is my new choice when I want to indulge.

Even my die-hard DH is thinking of switching....so it has to be decent...he hasn't changed brands of beer in over a decade.

I don't drink, but hubby tried it this weekend - he says it is the best light beer he's ever tasted - and he hated light beer. After tasting it (his first beer since February) he said "Thank God, and Thank Michelob for a good LC beer!"

Has anyone tried cooking with this beer? I have a couple of stew recipes that include beer, which I would love to make now that it's cold again.

Tastes Great, Less Filling

I love my beer. The worst part of the low carb diet to me was going to be giving up my beer. (lol slight alkie)

I just tried Michelob Ultra...the 1st sip was slightly watery...the 2nd sip was great. I highly recommend it and it only has 2.6 carbs per bottle not 2.9. :D

Hey, i was also thrilled when i heard about the michelob, and tried it last night, it was quite good! BUT i remembered reading something on the atkins site about alcohol, and how, regardless of carb content, it can interfere with weight loss,, here is an excerpt,,, can anyone comment on this??:

"You should not drink alcohol during Induction, but you can drink moderate amounts of alcohol during the Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance and Lifetime Maintenance phases of the Atkins Nutritional ApproachTM. When given the choice, your body will burn alcohol for energy before it burns fat. But alcohol does not act as a carbohydrate so it will not interfere with burning fat in the same way that sugars and other carbohydrates do.
Alcohol consumption may also increase yeast-related symptoms, such as bloating, gas and cravings for sweets, and can therefore interfere with weight loss. Beer, which contains yeast, probably has the most yeast-forming components of any alcohol. An occasional glass of wine or vodka is the best choice. Scotch and other grain-based spirits are more likely to promote yeast problems."
