Just a few thought:

Let's separate the doctor from the corporation. Once you get this big, things are run by CEO's, VIP's and the whole shabang. I know Dr. Atkins must be the MAN over there, but do you think he runs things? The organization is loaded with staff, executives, doctors and editors etc.

So if we do mouth-off this new trend, it should not reflect on the Dr., but on the organization/corporation.

Why criticize this change? Read carefully the quote Doreen posted from their site. This is not just a marketing name "Net Atkins Carbohydrates", it is a new concept . It's neither carbs, nor effective carbs (ECC, carbs-fiber). You, as a consumer don't know what it is. Think about that..... You will not be able to tell, you can only be told how many NAC units there are. Image if this fleis, LC manufacturers will have to "certify"" their NAC numbers and you will just have to trust the number is kosher.

This NAC factor claims to be based on USDA data!!! Well, I just got the latest USDA database, and there's no NACs in it. Chances are, it carbs minus fiber, minus sugar alcohol, but why should you and I know? All we know is they were "extrapolated" somehow.

This is disturbing, but will definitly fail. Food labeling is not a joke, and if there were ways to manipulate the lables (beyond the usual tricks with calories and fiber) we would have had WW-calories and UltrSlim-Fat units on our labels way back.
