It really all depends on your body shape and height. Some people seem to be 16, and weigh 200 pounds. Some people seem to be size 10 and 155 pounds. It really confuses me at times and makes me wonder if the sizes in the U.S. are larger or just different in labeling. I live in Canada, and at this point i`m 164 pounds, 5"3 and wear a size 14.

jaybee007, you also have to take in account how tall people are and there bone structure. I have a friend who is 510" and she weights 164. She looks pretty thin to me, but still can't get into her 10's. Where as I am 5'5" (closer to 5'6" but not at it so I don't claim it) and just a couple of pounds lower wearing the 10's. I look at here and can understand why she can't fit in a 10? Must be the bones.

And yes, US and Canada sizes run different. I also think the US sizes run bigger than they use to.

Goodness! Look at all these incredible successes.

Sizes are weird. I have seen people who weigh more than me wear sizes that are the same or smaller than the ones I wear. Height has a lot to do with it.

I have gone from my heighest jean size of 12/14 (that I couldn't fit into anymore) to a size 8.

LCalamari Fri, Aug-22-03 05:51

I started off at a size 20 and I am now a size 16. I have been on induction for 2 months now and have lost 22 pounds. :yay:

jaybee007 Fri, Aug-22-03 05:57

Maybe if I go to the U.S. and try on clothes i`ll fit into a smaller size..or maybe not...lol..they`re probable the same.

jaybee007 Fri, Aug-22-03 05:58

Arie well done by the way....levis don`t lie do they? You are the size you wear in Levis ware...

whyspers Fri, Aug-22-03 06:05

I was in a 18 (also in denial and did have a few 20's in my closet that were a better fit) and am now in a 12 jeans and a medium top (except for the ones that run tiny that my 5 year old can wear...lol).

Since the beginning of June I've gone from a 22 to a baggy 18 bottoms and 24 to 20 in tops, I think a lot of it depends on where you carry your weight and how firm/wobbly you are ;)

cincin11 Fri, Aug-22-03 06:16

I must be wearing some tight -a*s jeans . I have lost 4.5 inches from my waist and still fit in the same ones. So, don't feel bad. I am still in a size 14 . I still wear all same bras ,shorts, shirts. Nothings changed.

short and shorter

i am 4'11" and i will never see small sizes.... i will be happy to consistently wear a size 12 again. i think clothing sizes are getting smaller over time. i think it is interesting the line and cut of clothing too. i have a pair of 16 black jeans that have the same line and cut of a pair of my 12s. so what size do you think i am going to say i am?

I think the size depends on bone structure/height, and of course age. I know I won't be getting anywhere near my high school weight (MANY years ago) of 105. Even then, I remember wearing 9/10. Don't think I was ever in size 8. And that's with being short!

anais57 Fri, Aug-22-03 06:35

jmarion....so true and even if we could get to our high school weight, those of us who have kids... our hips would never get into our high school jeans
