Without this board I really think I would be less focused, more depressed and even back to my old ways. I like the idea of a food journal along with chatting with people in similar circumstances.

I have been a single mom now for almost a decade and now I live in a new town without any family or friends. Life can be difficult....I appreciate the support I find here. Thank-you everyone! :) Gina

This is such a supportive place! You know, many of us have much of our family, friends, and coworkers working against us in this quest. It's great to have a place to come where so many people understand our struggles. I definitely wouldn't be where I am today with this WOL without the forum.

Many thanks to everyone who makes this possible!

I personally needed some guiding wisdom from other people who have been through the Atkins experience. When I found tihs website, I knew I found the ultimate tool to help me stay with this diet on the long term. I know I don't post much, but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who put in their two cents, as it's helped me get the low down on the low carb.

I would have picked all of the above if it had been a choice. I am the only person I know IRL who has really committed to this WOL. My ex was doing it with me while we were together but quit when I left. A couple of people at work "try" to LC... and we all know what that means. Then they come to me and complain how hard it is, how inconvenient etc. and then they want to know where I got such "willpower"?!?!? And then they ask what I am having for lunch LOL....

I come here to learn from others, share what I know and stay focussed on why I needed to change my life.

There is so much more here than "diet advice" - there is a real sense of community. No topic is forbidden to too personal. We can talk about what the real issues are in our lives with a small degree of anonimity which is a safety valve for many of us as we have discussed in another thread. How many other places can we complain about our relationships and constipation in the same sentence?

I agree with the person who said "goof off at work" because I do use the forum that way when I am too stressed to be doing what I am supposed to be doing. Typing a few lines of support to someone or simply reading about someone's day will destress me enough to get back on task.

As most of you know my family is totally unsupportive of many of the things I do so it's kind of like having a replacement family in some ways who actually want to see me succeed.
Thanks all, Julie

I would have picked all of the above, too. I agree with all of them. I was really tossed between accountability and the one I chose. It is great to have a bunch of "cheerleaders" and just friends when I need them. And I am here almost everyday just to see what's going on and who needs help and who has won the fight. It is great!!!
