Hi Guys,
I have been working out 6 days a week since joining the gym. I alternate weight lifting and cardio days. So far it has been great! I have put on muscle and today the scale dropped 2 pounds. I'd like to say it is a miracle, but really it has been a lot of work. The thing is, I'm loving it. I almost can't wait to do cardio today until I nearly faint. I really feel a difference already in the way my body feels. It's not like you can see the difference in 3 weeks, but I feel it and it's very encouraging.

I have been reading a lot of the exercise threads here and the reason I decided to take up lifting is because the more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be overall. Muscle just burns fat. The cardio I do is short, just 20 minutes, but intense. I guess the point here is to really max yourself out. I love that it doesn't take all day and the grueling workout is short enough I can handle it for that amount of time. Besides, it's really HIIT (high intensity interval training) where you max yourself out for 2 minutes, slow down for 2, max yourself out again.....

You can build yourself into this by walking fast, jog for 2 minutes...or jog then sprint, whatever you can handle so long as you get yourself to the point of not being able to talk while going for the high intensity part. I have to say that so far, it's working for me. I'm reading all over that this is the best way to lose fat. Just 3 days a week.

Thanks Karen for stopping by my journal to get me. I didn't seem too many people were posting here anymore so I stopped because I post in my gym log, fitday and then my journal. After awhile it gets monotonous.

I started this journey over a year ago weighing 245 pounds and lazy as all hell. Now that I'm 20 pounds from goal (105 pounds total I want to lose) I feel I really need to push myself and be as fit as I can. If I could only quit smoking yet. *sigh*

I quess you were right Jill when you said that hardly anybody posts here any more. I was thinking of joining the thread that Pammie started for exercising. So if I am not here, that is where I will be. I really wanted to thank all of you for the support and friendship you have shared.

But for right now, I just wanted to say that I did the 1 mile walk video followed by 15 minutes on the treadmill. It is a start back for me. Maybe some day I will get as excited as you are Jill about your exercising. It is so exciting to see.
