Most mayo will have "some" carbs as it is made with egg.
However your 2 carbs per serving (one tablespoon??) seems a lot to me.

Even Hellmans (which does contain sugar in its ingredients but many people do use without problems) has only 0.2 net carbs per tablespoon.

Where in the world do you live?

BTW there is a current thread discussing mayonnaise here

Thanks Karen!

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the protein/meat count because I received a free starter kit from Atkins and the booklet says to limit meat/protein to 4-6 oz per meal. I was also confused by the low-fat/non-fat emphasis, too. Thanks for the clarification.

Induction - Whey Protein Shake

So, what is your opinion of Whey protein shakes for breakfest? 30 grams of protein 3 carbs when you mix with water. Can I have during Induction?

Why no milk? Is it the lactose? Or what?

Marci

Milk has on average 5g of carbs per 100ml. It is also a simple sugar so it cancause your insulin levels to spike very rapidly, and cause more sugar cravings. cream has trace amounts of carbs and does not cause insulin spikes due to the high fat content, that is why it is allowed.
:)

Edit sorry I have had a few and my gallbladder is gone tomorrow. Sorry!

Sorry, Michael, I was responding to bluedevilm in that post, as if we know her location it might be possible to let her know of a brand available in her country with no sugar and fewer carbs in it then the one she mentioned in her post.

I hope all goes well with your operation today.

Hi Karen,

Much appreciate your detailed list.

Just a question for all, do you think one can consume the indian fresh cheese Paneer on Atkins induction? If yes, how much do you think is a reasonable amount?

Cheers

Elizellen Tue, Jan-15-13 06:16

Paneer and other fresh cheeses come on the second OWL level (often referred to as the "rungs" of the carbohydrate ladder on support boards) in Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 which is the book this thread is based on.

So adding a 5 net carbs worth portion a few weeks after completing induction would be the "by the book" time to add paneer.

A few websites I looked at (thank you google) said paneer has about 2.5 carbs per ounce.

Sorry if this is a silly question...or in the wrong place....or been covered already, but..........
I'm in the UK, how much exactly is a 'cup'????? I have a 'cup' measure, one of those sets of different size measures, but it's very tiny. Is a cup here the same as a cup in the US? I haven't got it with me just now, but I would estimate it is about 2-2 1/2" diameter and about 1 1/2" deep. Does that seem about right?

GlendaRC Mon, Feb-18-13 09:49

Not a silly question at all. A cup is 8 fluid oz. or 250 mL -- hope that helps clear it up.

Hallyth Mon, Feb-18-13 10:08

Thanks Glenda!

blackcat99 Mon, Feb-18-13 12:58

Where did you get your cups from btw xx

Liz53 Mon, Feb-18-13 13:04

Try amazon - look under measuring cups. I have one made by OXO that I like.
